Thanks for the tip! Although I would really like someone to maybe explain what just happened. Seems weird...

While the image upload "plug-in" is embedded in the VEF forum software, it is controlled by PimpandHost.
In recent days pimpandhost.com has been slow to process uploads of more than 3MB; which is not very good performance. If you try to upload more than a few images (eg: 6 or 7 totalling more than 3MB in total) the "processing" script runs forever, and may not finish correctly. I suspect that they are experiencing some kind of server problem, and have disabled the "plug-in" to reduce server loads. When they get it fixed, the "Browse" button will appear again; as if by magic. Hopefully their performance will be restored, too. Addendum: Dang . . . It's back . . . .about 30 seconds after I posted the above. Another tip . . . . If you don't see the "Browse" button when composing a "Quick Reply", press the "Go Advanced" button and see if it appears. Last edited by highwayman274; January 21st, 2019 at 09:48 PM.. Virtually every host has periodical outages - where you cant upload or download Pays to have a 2nd or 3rd option because you cant never really guess how long it will last or know what caused it General - news is sometimes where you'll find the most recent outage mentioned https://pimpandhost.com/forum/ In Bugs - this is where i head https://pimpandhost.com/forum/f2-bugs.html Pimp has its own forum which in my experience is a useful starting place Alternate hosts by Deezer - currently 8 + pimp reviewed http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/t33...ate-hosts.html In my experience opening a few accounts and using them occasionally is good for those times PIMP is MIA for longer Tutorials for imagebam & imagevenue (pics are deleted after 12 months if inactive) in the stickys http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/f27-tutorials.html test forum - best place to make mistakes and learn with the unfamiliar http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/f55-test-forum.html Last edited by buttsie; January 29th, 2019 at 05:00 PM.. Re Buttsie's 2704 post...
it seems that PiXhost has just stopped working, right in the middle of one of my uploads - and the posts that use it don't show images. So I turned to Imagebox for the first time in a long time...
* * * * * that was fast, PiXhost has already reappeared...

When I use Opera (with XP and kaspersky), and go to a thread with thumbs to photos on pixxhost in the posts, I'm not allowed to go the website as I get a red warning page. When I use firefox (with XP and kaspersky), that problem stops.
But now I have a different problem: In many of the most recent posts in photo threads, I'm not seeing any thumbs, just whatever words the poster has written. Could firefox 52 now be having problems with pixxhost? Any help would be appreciated. If anyone posts any info and I don't reply, it's likely that I've forgotten about this post, so please PM me. Edit: I've just been to a thread with some animated gives on pixhost and I could see the thumbs and go to the host ssite and see the full gifs, so the 2nd problem doesn't seem to be with pixhost and kaspersky with xp.

Subscribing to a thread is a good way of not forgetting Its safe to assume that the older out of date OSs like XP & Vista will be dropped by developers at some point when its too much work for very little gain. Firefox ESR 52.9.0 EOL: Drop dead date is going to end on 28 August 2018 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1203188 The other browser mentioned on several sites that might still support XP is Maxthon / Mathon Nitro - maybe worth a try Which Browser Is Most Secure on Your Old Windows XP System? Ben Stegner October 21, 2017 https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/browse...ows-xp-system/ Best Web Browser after August 2018 for Windows XP https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/for...or-windows-xp/ I'd experiment with a few proxys just to make sure its not an ISP regional issue http://anonymouse.org/anonwww.html https://hide.me/en/ Its probably safe to assume that download managers still work with current hosts even for older outdated OSs Personally when I was faced with XPs demise I went to refurbished hard drives for desktops to stay protected / up to date - its a fraction of the cost of a new PC because they dont come with a disc. After a bit of a search i found one providing old PCs that business no longer wanted for AUS$99-now $130 dollars with specs - dual core-i3/5/7 CPUs , 4-8GB of memory , business graphics 6 months warranty https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/refurbishedpcs/ The one i currently use in Australia https://www.electronicrecyclingaustr...y/desktops/pc/ Last edited by buttsie; February 4th, 2019 at 06:46 AM.. as per above, another xp browser
https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal/releases based on palemoon (so palemoon plugins will work, many firefox (pre version 52) plugins too), i don't have objections. |
