You're right! Unfortunely MINT discontinues the KDE-spin, but you can "install" and use KDE(like almost any surface in almost any distribution) afterwards easily - so as i did it with LinuxMintDebianEdition 3 Cinnamon!
I like MINT very mucho

You were lucky that the roll back worked, when it doesn't without an image the only option is to start again.

Macrium still has the free edition of both x86 ( 32 bit ) & x64 ( 64 bit ).
Just go to MajorGeeks where you will download the downloader program.
Run this and select the version you want.

Direct downloads of the full free versions are out there too e.g. FileHorse - but they have 32 & 64 bit file names crossed over i.e. select to download 64 bit, the file is 64 bit but has x86 not x64 in file name.

With Macrium 7.1.xxxx I was getting an unknown Error 9 with recent Windows 10 systems.
The current version 7.2.4xxx fixes this.

i just got it about six weeks ago and have been dicking around with it ever since.\
A lot of my older programs won't work.So i had to update or BUY new versions.
And all the start menu stuff is SO ugly..all the buttons, pics, "apps", games and other bullshit i don't want to see. Very big/ugly and cartoonish.
i like my pc to be very utility like - just do what i want and need and very streamlined .

win 10 "synced" everything. i use multiple accounts for here, mail youtube etc. if i had multiple bro9wser tabs open it would log me out of some accounts. i couldn't be 2 users at once on 2 diff sites.\

i couldn't uninstall some of the msft shit that comes as part of win 10 like xbox or whatever.

all the "cloud" nonsense. i want to OWN a file. i want to open office w software not do work in a cloud. Same w PDF. i wanted software toopen a document, nit have it open in a browser.

i had driver update and my network adapters got fucked up, HOURS online trying to fix and on phone w my isp. turns out i had to bring it to someone and he charged me 200 to fix it.

my video drivers got fucked up. i use tv as a main display and the aspect ratio got messed up. again, time on phone w tech and some help support site. remote, menu buttons on tv and personalize on desktop would not fix it. seems some win 10 update fucked up my ability to disable overscan option on tv

so this went on for a good month or 6 weeks. i finally went back to windows 7 and am happy once again

oh, another thing...i am taking an online class and there is a website/app . i tried to clear cache as suggestion from site. tried 3 browsers and each time as i tried to navigate within the app the page would go WHITE! i had to call the developer and get a refund...more bullshit !

it works great on win 7

sorry to ramble but i've been up setting up pc back to 7 to my liking
i will NEVER use that POS win 10 again !
I appreciate you saying this, because I am thinking about staying with Windows 7 for good.

Default And on it goes

The vicious cycle of Win 10 updates continues.
KB4515384, which was recently released to correct the errors in KB4512941, which caused the Search engine to malfunction, itself is now causing the Start Menu to malfunction and the screen colour to change. Not quite the "Blue Screen Of Death"; more like "The Orange Screen of Terminal Illness".

Default And that's not all.

As well as the problems outlined in my previous post, it also appears as if Win 10 update KB4515384 can cause a loss of sound and internet connectivity.
Admittedly, the three people who've commented on this article claim not to have experienced these problems. Although, of course, they could be Microsoft shills.

They are Microsoft shills
Audio in games is quiet or different than expected

As long as WINDOWS works as an service(and not as a OperatingSystem anymore), it's practically based on a Rolling Release which will let find out it's users(or should i write guinea pigs) the bugs of it...

You can use your computer when you want, not just between times when Microsoft choose to.

Switch on and use without worrying if it will boot or BSOD or get bogged down processing updates with no control. You are in control of updates.

....

No least it is free .... what is harder is buying a computer & particularly a laptop without Windows so not passing any hard earned Wonga to Microsoft.

I definitely will.
At present, I run four computers. Two are still running Windows 7 and the others run Linux Mint (the computer on which I'm typing this) and Linux Voyager (like Mint, a Ubuntu-based French distro).
When (or even before) the long term support for Windows 7 expires in January 2020, I'm intending to install Linux on those two computers too. Still not sure which distros I'll be using. Mint is ultra reliable in my experience and I've been using it for almost three years now. Although, perhaps, I'll give others like Manjaro or Makulu a try.
Perhaps we need to start a new thread on this. Something like "How To Kick The Windows Habit".
