I believe most of the characters are Japanese but I have some that Japanese, Korean, and Chinese readers had no idea what language they are.
If you've got an Asian script that Japanese, Korean and Chinese don't recognize . . . could be Sinhalese, Burmese . . . but you don't encounter them much.

Southern India and Sri Lanka maybe? Lotta people there and some beautiful and unusual characters that Chinese wouldn't recognize. Pretty much any literate Korean, Japanese or Chinese would immediately recognize the letters if it was one of those three, even if they couldn't read it . .. if they don't recognize it at all, then its something else.

I can't read Telegu, but its beautiful:

Default ImageHost Grabber [ IHG ] Crashing Windows

Not sure where this should go.

The suggestion below does not fix the problem.
Basically _IHG_ is now usually, but not always, crashing win7.
Perhaps some kind soul can suggest a solution - there does not seem to be anything
on the web.

Running win7 / pale moon / Image Host Grabber [ IHG ].
IHG suddenly started crashing windows at the end of a "grab".
Had to reboot the PC; the grabs were downloaded OK.
The following actions seem to fix the problem although I do not really understand why:

1. For the image host site [ ImageVenue in this case ]
2. Go to \Tools|ImageHost Grabber\Host File Editor\Update from Host File Window
3. Click the HFW box and run.

Perhaps wiser heads than mine could comment on this but it may assist.

When you say "crashing"-- just what is happening?

Is there a crash report?

Probably unwelcome to note-- but Win7 is now plenty old. . .

Hi deepsepia,

Thank you for your interest

Windows is freezing, a rare event these days; I did not look for a crash report.
I have to power down the PC to recover.

I think something has been changed in a PaleMoon update as _IHG_ has not been updated for a long time AFAIK.

Win7 support continues until 2020 and I do not like win10; apart from anything else it is loaded with MS spyware although this can supposedly be defeated.

I have started to use Bulk Image Downloader with Firefox now.

I don't know that this will help, but:

IHG website: here. You can download the latest version of the add-on from there. It works fine with Pale Moon--e.g. 27.6.2 (current/latest).

Beware the alarming-seeming "advertising" message you'll get whenever you visit that site. Just close the pop-up window & carry on. Although it may seem reminiscent of ransom-ware it will not harm your computer, just your wallet if you allow yourself to fall for it.

You will probably need to manually download the latest host file from that website. That is, properly configured that site will broadcast to all IHG users when there's a new host file to access (auto-install/update on your machine), but the default host file that you get when you first install that add-on is well out of date. Hence the need for a manual install of the file the first time. The latest hosts file there was issued 2017-12-24.

There is an IHG thread on vef, with a couple of minor tweaks for some of the image hosts--that is, the latest IHG hosts file can still be improved very slightly, e.g. with imgbox.

None of that directly addresses your crashing problem. I cannot say for 100% sure but I strongly suspect the issue may be being caused by something else on your machine, rather than IHG (in combination with Pale Moon). /shrug/

If you still have that issue then try restart in safe mode, then safe with networking & try browser, etc., i.e. step-by-step to see if cause can be isolated.

You've checked you machine is free of viruses/malware, I assume?

If nothing else, good luck with BID & FF.

----

edit: additional: IHG itself hasn't changed in a long time. The developer abandoned it some time ago. What has changed are simply regular expressions patterns in the filehosts file & used for matching image links on filehosts. So for IHG to be the cause of your issues would have to have been equally true quite some time ago, as well as now/more recently.

I suppose it's possible that a change in Pale Moon could be the cause, somehow triggered by/in conjunction with IHG, but that's really pretty unlikely given what it's doing via http(s).

"Win7 support continues until 2020" -- that means that Microsoft will continue to provide security patches. It doesn't mean that a bit of very thinly supported kit like IHG on Palemoon is going to work perfectly, or even at all. Palemoon itself is a very small project.

I run the latest version of IHG on the latest version of Palemoon and Win10, with none of the problems you describe. Because IHG is a barely supported application, there's really not much of anyone to complain to . . you can look at the IHG forum where there's a bit of user chatter.

But my two cents worth is "if IHG is crashing Win 7, there's a good chance that the best [only] solution will be to update to Win10, which you may not want to do . . ."

I forgot to mention earlier that IHG & Pale Moon are working fine here on Win7.

I need a good cropping program, one that trims around 5-10% around the edges all the way around. I tried fast stone for cropping, but can't get it done the way it needs to be done. I am going to see if my linux pinta can get it done in an automated way.
