They set the schedule for Merrick Garland's hearing-- "never" was their schedule. And it looks very much like the Anthony Kennedy -- for whom Kavanaugh once clerked-- planned his retirement with political input from the Republicans. Mitch McConnell and the White House wanted this confirmation hearing as close to the November elections as possible, a way to say to conservative voters "we delivered SCOTUS for you" -- that was their calculation, not the Dems. That Kavanaugh has a reputation was known to many-- he's a Washington brat, grew up in the town, went to school with sons of congressmen and future congressmen. So far as I'm aware, Dianne Feinstein got the first indication of Ford at the end of July. I don't see any sign of unwarranted delay. What would you do with such an allegation? The first thing is to be sure its not a James O'Keefe production . . . similarly, an allegation without a name or a witness isn't much-- if I were Ford it would have taken more than a little persuasion to agree to testify. So there is no equivalence here. Cynics like to say "they're all bad" -- but that's a false equivalence. Mitch McConnell, Donald Trump and today Trumpist Party are fundamentally corrupt and contemptuous of the Republic. One look no further than the plaintive self pity of Kavanaugh as witness, blithely ignoring his own memo twenty years ago. Kavanaugh is outraged, outraged! that someone should ask him personal questions about his sexual activity. I mean, imagine the nerve . . . Quote:

It has always been a political game for as long as I can remember.
Now it is just not civil. |

no, it was the interning of the whole race of people during the war while letting the other parties we were worn with namely Italy and Germany Go free that was inherently racist. Quote:

Illegal Immigrants aren't the primary concern. The concern is the physically open desert, as long as decent people can cross over so can the people who did this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Durango_massacres It's a existential weakness to the United States, on the random trails between the countries, 1 groups of crossers might be a innocent family who would not harm a fly and the very next person to use the same trail might be carrying a dirty bomb. I don't see a way to stop the bad guys without making it impossible for anyone to crossover. Quote:

Don't you dare tell me him being a decent person is preposterous. I am 26, I have never been to any parties, never been drunk a single time in my life, am still a virgin & don't currently drive nor have I ever driven myself anywhere without a parent. If someone made the same accusations against me that were made against Kavanaugh I can definitively 100% say it's fucking impossible to have taken place & my parents could testify that I never went to any such parties nor could have driven myself to such. Now if someone accused me of something at my previous workplace, the 2-3 times a female friend drove me home after high school, the 1 date I have ever been on or the 1 time I had a female friend over to watch a movie without my parents knowing, I would be utterly helpless to prove it didn't happen. Your all mocking Kavanaugh for daring to upset & vent? I would have cut my f##king wrist if someone accused me of something like this that I couldn't prove false in view of the entire world. This isn't a f##king game. |

First time I have heard this man. Came across as a whining little bitch who's unable to control his emotions or remain objective rather than a wise dignified impartial judge who's responsible for dishing out morality to others.
Really, is this the best you've got America? You really are in trouble. I listened to an interesting Radiolab podcast on the science of memory. We don't actually remember events we remember memories. According to research our memories are actually memories of later remembering something that we think about again (and again). If we don't soon consider something again maybe because we think it's not significant then it is lost from our memories. Drunkenness will also obviously inhibit self-analysis this 're-remembering'. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0bf49hb https://www.wnycstudios.org/story/91...and-forgetting Possibly a moronic drunken frat boy like Kavanaugh would not of even considered such drunken 'horseplay' and the 'victim' as significant and maybe never even thought again about the events for over 30 years and so could be lost to his memories. Ford on the other hand would have re-remembered the event soon after again and again constantly over the last 30 years. |
