Favorite DVD Ripper
Anyone prefer any DVD Ripper over another?
FreeWare is always a plus! |

I use probably what most people use....dvd shrink + dvd decrypter. Both are free.

Yes - DVD Decrypter is really good (I use CloneDVD2 for writing onto dvd; it shrinks to fit, though I rarely notice any difference in quality. That's not free, though, or I don't think it is).

Actually there is another combination that my wife uses sometimes to rip the most difficult of dvd's when all else fails.
RipIt4Me + DVD Decrypter + FixVTS RipIt4Me is an application that will help you backup your protected DVDs. Recently released DVDs are now very often equipped with stronger copy protections - such as ARccOS and RipGuard DVD. Programs like DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter cannot handle these types of discs. With the help of RipIt4Me, ripping these DVDs will be a very easy task. The program is fully automated and the wizard will guide you through all the necessary steps involved. If you prefer, there is also a true "1-Click" mode that will perform all the involved steps automatically for you. Once again all are free |

I use Fairuse - it's not free, but it's pretty good and allows plenty of choice.

I use DVD Decrypter and DVDFab (non-licensed) for my ripping needs. For backups of course.

My very best to Mrs eelcat for that info. For ages I was using Cyber-Link Power Producer, it works fine most of the time but every now and then an wmv or avi file will not burn in DVD form. I've just ran one of those through ripit4me and it's burning merrily away with that very same Cyber-Link programme.
