Come and See.
1985 Russian War Film. Probably one of the greatest war films of all time but I could only watch it once. Jeepers....it is tough one to get through. |

"A Serbian Fim"
Quote:
It was shown at our local "Art House" ~ long closed down ~ I left before my partner... who blamed me for us going there... we were both members anyway, but I'm wimpier than her. I suppose the removing of teeth as a torture sequence gained some viewers.... my partner said that at the end a dead baby was going to be defiled... when she left. So much for "Art House". She blames me for making her view it, but I left long before she did and that's her excuse gone....... What I saw of it wasn't very intelligent,.... just "set-ups" to show how 'brave' the filmakers were. CR@P by any standard. It contributed to our only "Art House Outlet" in 60/70 miles being closed. I'm sure. Who would re-visit such a Cinema again ? For those who seek this kind of "entertainment".... search out this Director and this film. I won't. |

Watched "Wake in Fright" 1971 this week and I'm still getting to grips with it. A truly great film with Gary Bond (Zulu) and Donald Pleasence (perhaps the most iconic Bond villain).
The drunken kangaroo hunt scene.........I found this Most Disturbing. |

Watch Bone Tomahawk... a slow burner with Kurt Russell that explodes in violence in the last 1/3. Ive seen lots of horror type films but this was VERY disturbing.. i wont give it away with any spoliers!

A lot of movies in the horror genre (of which I'm a great fan) would give their souls to Satan for half the creepiness and in-your-face brutality of Wake In Fright. A superb film. When you watch that movie it's like you're there - trapped, isolated, frustrated, horrified and so so so so fucking hot and sweaty. |

Eraserhead (1977)
Even today, where I am relatively at ease with all the excesses, depravity and surrealistic qualities of modern life, I still find this is a very uncomfortable film to watch. |

Freaks (1932)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0022913/ The scene towards the end, with the Freaks of the title crawling through the mud is still atmospheric and still has the power to disturb, even today. All of the performers in the film are genuine, such as Radian the Living Torso.
