Another fun fact: by sheer coincidence, the actress who played Moneypenny in the Dalton films and the actress who played Moneypenny in the Brosnan films went to the same school and were friends when they were kids.

Yes they made a big thing comparing the names James Bond and Samantha Bond(who was Moneypenny) although there was another girl who played her and that was Caroline Bliss, whom I thought was woefully under-used.
Definitely going to see Spectre Thursday with my friend and my father wants to go as well. Cannot wait!!!

Just back from seeing 'Spectre' but unfortunately my Dad couldn't go as he did his knee a mischief. I went with my friend instead. I have to say that it was worth the wait, I've been very excited to see this latest James Bond film, not just with Daniel Craig but with director Sam Mendes again and it did not disappoint. I would recommend you see this film if you haven't seen it already - the screen we went to I think there must have been 12 people in all - enjoy it and I for one liked the little nods to the other Bond films of the past, I think it helped with the story. Monica Bellucci sizzles on screen(the little times she is seen) for someone over 50!! but Lea Seydoux wasn't out and out hot, more pretty. There are a few surprises in it AND I am hoping that Craig will do at least ONE more. 10/10 easily and yes they did top Skyfall.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours too Rick-yeah sure PM away.

I'll take your word for it. I once saw something in Australia called OMNIMAX and that was pretty good, flying over Singapore at night, that made you feel as if you were in the helicopter or plane used.
Re Mr Bond's spoiler picture. Actually it wasn't much of a spoiler because the British press had speculated since Spectre was announced as the name of the film that there would possibly the appearance of the said villain. It was obviously an oversight by the people that did the captioning but by the time the film was released in October I think most 007/James Bond websites and other places had already guessed this would be the case.

I'm not for one second saying that Ben Affleck should play Bond, just someone like him (and someone British). I love Pierce Brosnan, but I think he's about as 'clean cut' as Bond should or could ever be (and even Brozzers was in his 40s when he first played the part). Affleck now, sure, he's a really handsome guy, so you can believe he could get with all those glamorous ladies, but there's an edge to him, some grey in his hair, he's been up and down and kicked around a bit. I think of Bond as being a guy who works out in the gym because he wants to hurt himself, not because he's going to be in a Calvin Klein commercial, ya know? Fundamentally what I'm saying is, I really hope the actor they cast as the next Bond isn't the 'emo edgy'/Annikin Skywalker/Twilight version. Just had to get that off my chest. So, Affleck as the new James Bond, who's with me!...........guys?...........hello? hello? Is this thing on? |

I still remain to be convinced that Eon have topped Casino Royale yet. It was fresh, dynamic and exciting. Then they completely dropped the ball with Quantum of Solace, with a plot it was difficult to care about. Skyfall? A vast improvement on QoS - but that wasn't difficult. But the best ever? No. Too many plot holes. A villain slightly too far the wrong side of camp. Spectre? Too long. Some plot devices looked shoe horned in; it felt padded out. A somewhat "so what" ending. Far from bad, but did not excite as much.
As for the new Bond, I completely agree with NOT Idris Elba. Over-praised from one role, and they should resist the PC-brigade. Doubtless when Daniel Craig does go, there will be the usual bunfight of spurious linkages. |

Henry Cavill(the Superman actor) could be a good one, look at him as Napoleon Solo in The Man From U.N.C.L.E reboot. I can't think of anyone who is like Ben Affleck but who knows somebody out there is perfect for the role. I too can't see Idris Elba in fact I don't think he wants to do it anyway. Daniel Craig I hope can be persuaded to do just one more, but if not I am sure whoever is picked will bring something of their personality to the role.
Just to mark your cards. Next week is The Nation's Favourite Bond Song on ITV. As if they haven't flogged this Nation's Favourite idea to death now it is the turn of the James Bond song-sheesh!

Crikey! I've just heard that Burt Reynolds was once offered the role of James Bond by Cubby Broccoli - was nothing sacred? An American playing a BRITISH secret agent-surely not!
