ah ah I know what you mean Xy. No need to look to contemporary porn with envy and frustration. We have enough and probably more than enough in our hard disks. Myself, I have the tendancy to collect, that's just in order to own and classify. In digital or in real. I bought few times some 70's Penthouse and Playboy releases and 80's softcore VHS tapes, that can perfectly be found on VEF or elsewhere. I try to contain myself.

For Woodman, I know his first works were okay. But I would be more severe than you. There is lazyness in the way he chose. Despite the crisis in this business, the last Salieri's movies or Salieri's productions are not bad, by example. Of course, it's not exactly the same niche. But he could perfectly try to exploit the nostalgia niche and do things à la Cabanel/Payet. A little thing that I picked up watching an old video (Rocco Siffredi and Louise Hodges).

They were doing the introduction bit, and Rocco casually comments to the cameraman 'hey, this girl can pose.'

A lot of the vintage stuff I enjoy features girls who had previously done a lot of photographic work. The 'men's magazines' of the period, Men Only, Fiesta et al, meant that girls were experienced in front of a camera from stills work. There's no sound and movement, so a girl had to learn how to look sexy for the camera.

Modern stuff is very much 'pay me the money then you can do what you want to me' in tone. The girls frequently don't appear to enjoy what they do, let alone be aroused by it.

Louise Hodges, Gilly Sampson and many others, already had the 'look' down pat before they started appearing in actual movies, and for me, that is something so evidently missing from modern films.

I miss visionary directors like Andrew Blake, Rinse Dream, Philip Mond. Nowadays 'porn' is very cheaply made, one camera and just go. I really like that up to ca. 2003 there was actually a sense of production design, style, and care especially with the cinematography; moody lighting, wide angles, dolly shots etc. Surely some still do it (Dorcel movies are one of the exceptions) but it's rare.
