Mate, what if Columbus, Captain Cook, Marco Polo, Francis Drake, Vasco de Garma etc had the same thought process ??? Man needs to explore

The worst thing that happened to America and Oceania... were white European explorers.

We have to let Mars and the Moon in peace.

Humanity has to disappear. We have to let the mices exploring Universe.

Think of petrol stations - either orbiting, or in space run by AI - not humans!
Just like we have packet information or traffic control - stations with a supply chain - either from Earth or production facilities on our Moon. AI will lead the way, and maybe control or stop the flow of destructive humans into the new off world colonies. Even better - give the bad humans their own planet to trash - somewhere very far away.

Personally I think that AI (robots) could be a part of spirit of humanity that could explore Universe and maybe colonize several galaxies.
But not us, made of flesh and... poop.

If any of these mindless selfish idiots who want to jump on a bandwagon and go and colonise it without thought or care for the future ever get into a spacecraft and set off, we must hope that Trump's finger on the big red button (or similar) vapourises them before they have gone much further than out of Earth orbit.
The reality is that should the Moon become a commercial asset in the future, there will be massive changes made to it. This will range from surface mining, connecting power and communication cables, to underground bases involving the cutting of deep tunnels, probably with nuclear explosives. It will change considerably once the space age takes off and the far side has features that scientists will want to use for things like radio astronomy. And this is the nearest alien world to us, while Mars remains quite distant.

In the case of Mars, it's probably fair to say that assuming there are no biohazards in the soil, it will eventually be colonized and 200 years from now the population will be counted in the millions. It is more habitable than the Moon and a better proposition for development. So Mars will be altered. So what? Why should it remain unchanged? It's a bleak desert world anyway and not the same as all those special places on Earth we are destroying on a weekly basis, without the slightest thought to the consequences.

Mars is not the way it once was anyway. Far in the past, Mars had a denser atmosphere, seas and a tolerable climate. There may even have been life there once. The same may be true for Venus before it became a hell planet that humans may never be able to visit. And Mars is almost certainly not pristine as the early landers may well have carried biological contamination there anyway.

If you don't want to see the Solar System taken over by humans, the only way to stop this is by seriously restricting population growth or wiping out humanity completely. Assuming scientific development continues at the present rate, we will have colonies out to some of Jupiter's moons within a couple of hundred years, perhaps even a bit further than that.

Nope.

Although the fabulously wealthy one day might , but then they`re not human in my opinion. Since if had everything I needed to comfortably survive , plus several hundred million or billions to spare. I`d spend that extra money helping others. Because it`d make me feel like I was making a worth while difference. I`d not throw it on solid gold bathroom taps or hording it so I died the most egotistical sociopathic empathy free richest of corpses.

Not being a bore whatsoever.

What cheeses me off are the lies we're doled about this planet`s life sustaining resources running out.

When and in truth if this spinning majestic marvelous one off (Far as we know) mud ball of ours was even remotely semi sanely logically husbanded. They`d not only be enough for all who currently reside on it . But enough to supply a few other planet`s populations !.

AI are not robots. AI would thought-program robots to complete tasks.
History has shown us that we humans are the scumbags who have done more to show how we can blow more stuff up than the previous generation. This cannot continue.
The current All Seeing Mars expedition gives some idea of what lies ahead:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS8FWjS2TZc&t=3203s

The planet Earth has been around for millions of years and we humans in just sixty six years (from Wright Brothers, to Moon Landings) have just touched upon our potential.
