Guys that seems to be normal.

The new transport aircraft A400M, an Airbus cooperation of different European companies, of the Bundeswehr are all Grounded. Since one plane has crashed in Spain, as four of four engines had a malfunction , they got grounded. All of the crew had died. Since than things got very quite.
They have to use the old C-130, who are about 40 years old, furthermore.

The new Eurocopter "Tiger" chrashed in Mali (Africa), as supposedly the Rotor blades went off. The crew died also.

The transport Helicopter NH90 got never ready to use. It had a long list of several malfunctions. It was never in use.

As I know together with Northon Gruman the drone "Euro-Hawk" got developed for about 1.3 Millard Euro. But it never got a certification in the European airspace.

It seems that Military Equipment is a wonderful opportunity for our politicians and industries, to waste and trash taxpayers money.

More than 15,000 sign petition to reverse walk-on ban

More than 15,000 people have signed a petition to reverse a ban on walk-on girls during darts matches.

"Not only would we break tradition but women would be out of work also," wrote David Shaw who created the online document.

Earlier this week The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) announced it would no longer use walk-on girls in its tournaments.

Some fans and players say the ban takes away a key part of the experience.

Although some people have accused the sport of being stuck in the past, and say the role is demeaning.

However model Charlotte Wood who is one of the best known walk-on girls on the darts circuit has spoken out against the ban.

"Wow 10k signatures in 24 hours! A big thank you for everyone's support," she wrote on Twitter.

The 29-year-old said her "rights are being taken away" and darts accounts for 60% of her income.

The British A400's are flying. Watched one go into and out of Newcastle Airport just before Christmas. Very strange noise the engines make.

The US has stopped their weapon support at the Kurds, as Erdowahn has intervened in the US.

Yeah and we have to impose to women to walk topless at the swimming pool or men wearing bikini bras.

The list is endless-and even when you get it right you get it wrong! NZ adopted the Steyr AUG as the main all arms weapon in the 1980s-the first tranche came from Steyr in Austria-the remainder were licence made in Australia see: http://lithgowsafmuseum.org.au/history.html#modernsaf The bulk of the NZDF ones were actually Australian made. Not long afterwards various people started noticing a significant increase (particularly in army) of 'UD occurrences' firing a round- blank or otherwise-without permission. This always results in a discipinary event-and the excuses started to standardise on 'but it was set to SAFE Sir'.....sure enough-a thorough investigation showed that a significant number of the Australian versions would fire with the safety set to 'safe' This mushroomed at an alarming rate and got ugly political very quickly-especially as the good burghers of Lithgow took a very dim view of uppity kiwis slagging off their craftsmanship! ....and it pretty much seemed that Lithgow was a one industry town-so they were none too happy about their livelihood being threatened....

A case of 'just because something is licence built-don't assume it is of the same quality as the original manufacturer....!' Actually-in the end it all came down to tolerances on some of the plastic parts (the Steyr AUG having a very high proportion of plastic in it for a combat weapon!)

And don't get me started on the NH90-which we purchased as a replacement for the Iroquois.....we wanted a drafthorse and we got a show pony...

It's not uncommon for new military small arms to have quite serious problems in the field. The US M-16 was very unpopular in Vietnam due to propellant issues and manufacturing faults. The first version of the British SA80 had so many faults when new, most had to be rebuilt by H&K in Germany at substantial cost. The German G36, thought to be a big improvement over American assault rifles had barrel overheating issues. This may be the reason why UK police recently swapped their G36 carbines for American made weapons. I believe a similar US rifle is now being purchased by NZ to replace the Thales AUG. The French are also going to replace their current rifle with a German version of the American M4.

Military weapons have become more complex over the years, smaller in calibre and are expected to keep working in apalling conditions, where reliability is the most important issue. Only the Russians seem ahead of the game with their cruder, simpler and cheaper designs.

The SA80 was not a 'new' weapon, first trialed in the early 60's, it lost out to the SLR, Belgian FN, SLR in the British Army as it did not have automatic option.

I remember a REME armourer bringing the new mark 2 SA80 to demonstrate it to us in the dessert, he fired ten rounds at 100m, then cleaned the weapon fired another ten rounds at 150 m,and then again cleaned it, one of the three sarnt majors with me at the demo said 'course we gonna have time for that in a fucking fire fight!'

The best infantry assault weapon is without doubt the AK47, simple, effective and designed by an Infantryman, those of us who have to use the bloody things!

There have been some absolute shockers of military weapons over the years-one of the classics that springs to mind was an Italian machine gun (probably a Breda of one form or another, since that was their major MG manufacturer) which used a semi flexible strip of cartridges (in a similar fashion to the French Hotchkiss and some Japanese guns-except this one extracted the cartridge from the strip, fed it, chambered it, fired it, extracted it-AND PUT THE EMPTY CASE BACK IN THE STRIP! So the poor old number 2 on the crew had to strip out the empty cases before reloading the strip! To quote rupertramjets's sar majors again "of course the gun No2 had time for that in a firefight"....

Once again "what were they thinking......"
