You have to pick The Beatles, no question. Excellent composers, "the most thoughtful utilization of instruments" (quote Lemmy) and look at the amount of work.
Imagine what they would sound like if they had had the possibilities of digital recording and 21st century marketing. Wow!

The greatest band in the world? The Band: Messrs Robertson, Manuel, Helm, Danko and Hudson. Even Clapton wanted to join them. Jagger flew home from the U.S with a copy of Music From Big Pink, touting it as the greatest record he'd ever heard. He wasn't far wrong there.

I'll argue forever about what was their best LP (CD) -
But, yep, it has to be The Fabs. Don't forget, if the Mop-Tops hadn't have come along, It would have been left to Cliff & The Shadows to conquer the World. |
