Nah, I got it in years of study and workshops along with years of bad attitudes and bringing crap into my life.

Bad things do happen to good people, but I have the suspicion that the ideas of karma and multiple incarnations are correct. I am pretty sure that some of the BS that folks have laid on to me was payback or karmic justice for my earlier bad deeds.

You see, whatever Ms Begum has done is chalked up to her karmic account. Three dead babies is a hell of a lot of grief to lay on a mother. Personally, I am not one to put much stock in some shitty comments and a defiant attitude a 19 year old juvenile delinquent might show in the moment. People, especially female type people, can and do change. Caril Anne Fugate was a model prisoner and lived a quiet and uneventful life as a medical technician after her parole.

But it isn't our job to worry about her crimes or karma. It is our job to worry about ours.

We have not heard a thing about here as the law does not allow reporting so we assume she has stayed on the right side of the law.

Then there's those evil young shitheads Thomson & Venables, Jon Venables has been jailed again twice on child pornography charges and Robert Thompson does not appear to have re-offended although he showed very little remorse during the trial, maybe his brain is just wired so that he does not show some emotions.

These were home grown killers who committed their offences here and as much as I think Venables should be locked up for life our legal system appears to be quite lenient on a way too regular basis for kiddy-fiddlers, now read into that what you want

I however see no reason why I should feel anything but disgust for some daft bint who chose to go on a jihadi mission to some foreign land and freely mixed with vile barbaric scum who murdered and tortured civilians.
If that honest opinion offends anyone then I assure you I can easily live with that.

The really strange thing is that some people who did some truly disgusting things have also helped thousands of people and made a positive impact on their communities. I suppose that means that some truly saintly people have brought calamity and left misery and catastrophe in their wake.

Sometimes it takes more energy to control your emotions than to just let the blood run free. But there is a level on which you are quite right. In Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte gave some cutely observed words to Mr Rochester as he tells Jane how he came to fight a duel, describing his opponent as "A brainless and vicious youth whom I had never thought of hating, because I despised him so absolutely."

Brainless and vicious describes Ms Begum quite well. But I do consider her to be very dangerous. I don't think she should be at liberty, either in Syria or here in Britain. Also, the only socially useful role she is capable of fulfilling is to serve as a public example so others will know what might be in store for them if they act as she has acted.

Its someone who started out with great advantages, a loving family, and tossed them away to follow a movement devoted to brutalizing and abusing people, which she embraced enthusiastically.

Note that she's not someone who became disillusioned with ISIS. She's just sorry they lost.

There is plenty of space in the world for forgiving mistakes, for understanding that folks who are young and impressionable can grow and change-- but that's not her. On available evidence, her regret about ISIS and al-Baghdadi is only that they lost.
