Can anyone tell me what' s wrong with Pixhost ? It removes more and more pics i posted without reason.

Hi there dirkje!

Do you mean posts within the last few days or older?

If it's older than PiXhost seems to have had a server problem, it started back in early November, see Omnidirector's, Rubinski's & my posts around here.

At the time it seemed to recover but then slipped back to missing around late November/early December, see beutelwolf's & buttsie's posts here.

It seems to have affected only a patch of uploads, majority of my posts with them were fine.

I held off replacing for a bit but recently fixed my affected posts.

Fortunately I had alternate upload links for most of the affected posts so swapped them in instead, keeping the PiXhost ones in case they eventually get fixed.

Looking less likely they will be recovered but you never know.

I've continued posting with PiXhost as I find them particularly user friendly & none of my recent posts have had problems (fingers crossed).

Still use a variety of hosts for backup links, ever since that Imagbam scare.

I analyzed 130000 pixhost links posted over the last year. This certainly does not cover the complete forum, I only have certain parts. For every day I checked 10 randomly selected links. For the failed downloads I get an image containing 'currently not available'.
I will repeat this next week, to see if it changes over time and expand the analyzed time frame further into the past.

This shows how many pixhost links were posted per day:

This shows how many of the 10 sample links per day failed:

all or most of all failed until April 2018
most of August 2018 is missing
There are single spikes in between, but those are also "Image removed", maybe because of dmca

Let's hope they have a backup and can recover...

Hi there!

I'm noticing today that the broken PiXhost images with "Temporarily Removed" have returned.

Glad I only swapped over with the alternates.

For example all images in beutelwolf test post here were previously missing but now are back.

Note: If you've recently viewed, you may need to Refresh before they display properly.

Only noticed one missing thumb so far in my affected posts.

Hopefully they've got the problem sorted.

Special thanks to halvar for such detailed analysis by the way, very useful for narrowing down affected posts.

Yes. I did not do any deep diving, but some of my PiXhost uploads are definitely back.
Some extra-terrestrial intelligence fixed that for us...

Sounds great to hear they are recovering the lost galleries.

Even with this recent problem, Pixhost remained my current favorite pic host.

I reloaded a lot of posts (to Pixhost), but saved all my temporarily unavailable galleries as mirror galleries.
Sounds like they might be available again!

I use a right click addon to open images in a new tab without a lot of fucking about in menus and shit.
Pimp doesn't work well with this, firefox keeps complaining about it being a malware site and the right click addon doesn't work at all. Anyone know an answer to this?

Yes! All images are back! I ran my check for whole 2018 again and there is no need to make new plot. It would be a flat line now (which is a good thing in this case).

pimpandhost has been having problems since late on December 19. Have been in contact with them, and am wondering if it is affecting everyone, or if it is isolated to certain geographies and/or ISP's.
