Imagine me perusing the web late at night, the cat sound asleep in my lap. Suddenly the muted volume control comes alive with a blast of something that sounds like heavily-distorted female grunting while on the toilet. Yes, I'm talking about Imagetwist, which has the temerity to commandeer my computer volume control. While I medicate the cat scratches, it occurs to me that this is going way too far in the direction of annoy-them-to-get-their-attention. Yes, I've cancelled the irritating Live Jasmine popup countless times, even the ones that appear half-off-screen to thwart me, but taking over the volume control is just going too far. These assholes would probably shut down the computer and force a reboot if they could get away with it.

Imagetwist is a lot more prevalent on the sister site than here, but still I'd like to warn VEF'ers about it. For its impudence, Imagetwist deserves to be shunned until it whimpers out of existence.

I surf around with the mute button on an have never had anything interfere with it

Every now and then live jasmin gets through but the firefox script blocker No script
seems to stop it from opening fully.

A side note - the other possibility is the adobe flash player plugin
became vulnerable 9 days ago - you might have picked up something unwanted in that time

Some browsers dont automatically update plugins

Thanks buttsie. I also use Firefox but without the protections you mention. Imagetwist is the only site I've ever seen that commandeers the mute button.

I am implementing No Script based on your suggestion.

Upon further investigation, Imagetwist appears to be one of those sites referred to in the VEF Rules but not explicitly named, that are (or ought to be) banned from use on the Forum. Imagetwist pays uploaders a pittance -about the price of a hamburger and fries per 1000 downloads- for uploading material. I find this offensive and contrary to the hobby nature of VEF. When we upload material, we do it for the pleasure of our colleagues on the Forum without any intention of making a profit. (Another hobby of mine, amateur radio, explicitly forbids money-making activities on the amateur bands.) I don't know why Imagetwist is so prevalent on Planet Suzy or why it is even allowed, but I hope VEF'ers will stay well away from it for more than one reason.

All depends which version your using

If the most up to date then manual solutions exists in the image host grabber thread

The issues with imagehosts & download managers seems to be on going

Todays solution lasts for awhile before a new one is needed

Yes, can't upload anything.

Presumably has something to do with uploading ending with error message
