Most of them arrived in America just a wee bit before 1900... seldom via Europe, and pretty much none voluntarily.

But they certainly enriched the society immensely... in several senses.

Queensland had forced/indentured labour systems in the late-19 & early-20C, many working on cane plantations.

More recently (#2, #3, #4) there's been some examples of forced labour/modern slavery in both Oz & NZ in sectors such as ethnic restaurants and offshore fishing boats.

The USA still has slave labor today, believe it or not. I don't know if it's all 2,500,000 of them, but US convicts can be and are forced to work for around 10 cents per hour
