The ImageVenue pic loads for me without warnings or problems.

I use Malwarebytes, the best at getting the popular hijackers. When I scan after using Imageavenue I get a hit for a "hijacker control panel" . This could also be coming from Imagebam. I think most of these pic hosts are sending some component ,even if its benign and lays dormat. I'm at the point that I only click on either of these 2 ( no Pixhost or anything else, I check the host before I click on preview) and I scan every night.

There seems to be more and more incentive for people to send out trojans that I think this will only get worse as sites you trust will eventually screw you with something.

the vast majority of downloaders come from the banner ads
not the hosting mainsite, obviously there are exceptions but generaly thats were the nastys come from.

i will also second malewarebytes as it found stuff on my friends pc that many other scanners missed, in his case it was a very nasty route kit, but malewarebytes sorted it out.

I'm very surprised that Imagevenue haven't reacted to this as yet.

The Norton warning mentions "if you are the owner of this website etc" so it is open to them to contact Norton to get the warning lifted.

Quite why they haven't deleted the file in question is weird too, it's got to be against their terms of service or US law for anyone to do that.

I scanned with Malwarebytes last night and got this

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer\forceclassiccontrolpan el

It's either coming from the ubiquitous Live Jasmin or Imageavenue or Imagebam directly. I am paranoid about all of these because I've gotten Super Antivirus trogen hijacker twice last year and its a bear to get rid of. Last time I got by just visiting ********* which came up in a Google search.

My main point is all should download Malwarebytes as its free and update/use it daily.

No site can be trusted. Even here at VEF all it takes is one jerk to post a link to a host that will intentionally send a hijacker and it gets clicked on before the moderators catch it.

Oh, yes. As soon as i used Nortons link to the suspicious virus, it immediately sent a red flag to my Norton Corporate Edition that it's a Trojan Downloader. Norton immediately quarantined the file and I later deleted it with no problems. So unless you have anti-virus software running you'll install a trojan downloader onto your system. Best to delete the rogue file from the gallery it came from and any links to it. Not totally imagevenue's fault, just the file that was uploaded to it, so I think Norton noting the site as "unsafe" is abit premature with only 1 infected file detected by them.

Thats most interesting I have just checked my Quarantine list and all four of them whilst having been fully removed don't mention nor have any link to a Downloader and I have been downloading pics as normal-I suppose it depends what version of Norton you have-mine is the 360 version and fully protects my machine since it already had a nasty virus attack it two months ago and was cleaned. I shall of course continue to monitor this because up until now Imagevenue has been the uploader for pics of choice.
