Nah Shazam looks very weak to me.
It's openly mocking it's mythos instead of celebrating them like Aquaman.
The is no hint so far of epic supernatural fantasy stuff that typically accompanies the character. I want to see him fighting epic dragons and shit in exotic locations not hanging out neutered as fuck power wise in some shitty ghetto.

Mark Strong is probably going to be wasted even more then he was in Green Lantern.

Lead's suit on a base level is a faithful adaption of the N52 suit but execution wise it looks cheap as hell, especially the lightning bolt. It should have had a perpetual Tron Legacy kinda glow to it or be a solid gold plate, the yellow plastic looks awful. The gold pieces don't look like actual glossy metal like they should.

Captain Marvel isn't without valid nitpicks but I see alot more potential.
I am extremely happy we appear to finally be getting a semi serious toned cosmic film in the Mcu after Ragnarok left a unbearable SNL skit spoof kinda taste in my mouth. (believe it or not the Guardians of the Galaxy comics used to be dead serious at times before the movie came out, seek acclaimed event comics like Annihilation they were main characters in for evidence)

If handled right they can replicate the suspenseful Hydra stuff from Winter Solider in this with the Skrulls.
Hopefully (but not likely) they will make Ronan more complex and even a tragic villain here to make up for him being a very one note bad guy in the first Guardians.
It's critical this film not spend too much time on Earth like the 1st Thor or Green Lantern.
I like how they aren't afraid to show off how powerful Carol is. Her outfit isn't perfect (too baggy, should have been more form fitting like Hela) but the design is solid.

I like what I am seeing here. First time Tessa has looked Beautiful to me.
I hope Liam gets a sizable role, his prominence on the poster suggest he might.

A Idea I had about doing another MIB with Smith would get Brolin back again (I really liked 3) but this time have K be de-aged in the present. TLJ is absolutely too old at this point.

Basically just have the comic/film treat him like you would any given alien in Star Wars/Trek, don't address the outlandishness and play things straight.

To be clear I like the Guardians films that we got, the 3rd act of V2 is some of the best battles and emotional beats of all the Mcu, my only point is cosmic Mcu doesn't ALL have to be played for laughs.

It's that piss-take that I actually like. There's something really funny about a thirteen year old boy becoming a thirteen year old boy in a superhero's body when he says a secret word. As for the mythos, I don't know...maybe I've just gotten old and grumpy, but I'm kind of over the whole taking superheroes seriously thing. The only thing dumber is a bad guy dressing up in a costume.

I had been hoping for a more grounded manhunt film with Hobb's in full "The Fugitive" mode like he was in Fast 5 however accepting that they are going into more outlandish sci-fi territory this very much looks solid & Elba (my favorite actor) is a instant watch regardless (already looks like he has more to do then he got in his previous villainous role in Star Trek Beyond).

Ignoring the controversy, I am down with him directing but am concerned for the writing, hope he notably tones down the bathroom humor from Guardians V2 and his habit of beating jokes into the ground. Also hope Katana returns.
