Interesting - my BT line comes out at 12.35 mbps. Is that good, bad or average?

About £19 for unlimited access and you can connect up several devices (we have 4 - two pcs and two tablets).

I did notice that free Wi-Fi was unheard of in Oz but it's very common here in the UK. You don't expect to pay in a hotel or café.

For some reason that url gave me nothing,

so I had to use the beta site.

I'm currently on a 30/10 mbps fibre plan, and regularly exceed the 30mb "top" speed... in tests. Doesn't seem to alter by time of day/demand. Downloading from (throttled, i.e. "free") filehosts is a different matter.

Not that I do much of that, either.

I pay about 40.61 Euros per month, which includes a "landline" connexion (also fibre). Thinking of switching providers next month for slightly less cost & a 100/20 plan. For the uses I put it to (not streaming) 100 mb is pretty well redundant--i.e. it would hardly ever get used just in simple file downloads. 100mb plans are generally ~11.61+ Euros more than 30mb ones, of which mine is relatively "cheap" (locally), so I was a little surprised when recently offered a (v. slightly) cheaper one.

Would mean being locked into a 12 month contract, though.

If I lived in Australia, then I'd probably get deported. Apparently the Aussies don't get called racist if they refuse to let people move there just because that's where they want to live.

My internet speed is only 56kb/s. I just use broadband. I don't need the superfast internet that so many people want now. For one thing the superfast internet is really only necessary if you stream videos or play video games and I don't do either of those things. With my slow internet(compared to yours) I can still get any website in less than 1 second.

It's not superfast like in Japan & Korea, but it's definitely not slow. The price is about the same as I would be paying for a similar speed

The fastest speed I consistently get for downloading files is 11 Mbps (with a sub on 1Fichier & Uploaded) and I'm extremely happy with that, although it's well below what the speed tests indicate I could get. Do you get close to that?

You must be mistaken, TM -- that is dial-up speed from about 20 years ago, not broadband. Seriously
