It is a tradition, you won't recognise it as a wannabe anarchist as you prefer to make things up on the hoof.

I somehow think after the bollox Cameron and Co. made of the last referendum that word will not be uttered again for a long time.

Living in your isolated rose-tinted windowed communist bunker I also think you grossly underestimate how fondly many in the UK and indeed globally look on the monarchy, even those like me who think that although some of them like Prince Andrew are a joke that the monarchy in principal is not a bad thing.

It's not just British people that are fascinated by the monarchy, the forthcoming royal wedding will be watched by millions (not including me), although many may record it to watch after that small football game.

Wills wedding happened whilst I was on exercise in Kenya. It was on TV in the mess tent and no one could get in to eat because all the Locally employed civvis were watching it.

Bowlinggreen George suffered from porhyria which untreated can bring on madness. You should be glad because a wiser monarch would have chosen better ministers more capable of defeating the rebels and their French allies. Still it stopped us from being blamed for the Americans.

I'd like to watch the result of a referendum. Not assertions like: "many in the UK"

We had a referendum in the UK just two years ago and some of the more desperate Brexit deniers are still saying "many in the UK" want to stay in Europe.
Of course they do, they lost the vote but they are still against us leaving the EU.

Referendums tell you absolutely nothing, they are usually for voters to decide on their response to a very specific question with just two choices.

The ancesters of our British fellow members have suffered countless misfortunes during their common history, countless, because of decisions of their Monarchs.
But today a newborn child in tabloids, an American actress marrying a Prince and the billions kept and sometimes hidden in tax haven by one of the richest women on Earth, their Queen, dressed in a ridiculous way when shaking hand to her royal subjects, help to forget uncountable injustices made to British fellow citizen in the past. Everything is forgotten.

That's nice. Really. I'm not mocking. That's nice to forgive. It's highly positive.

So what about forgiving and giving a new chance to a more egalitarian society ?

That reminds me, though this might be better posted in "Questions For Our British Friends", I keep seeing all these blurbs about Prince Harry's wedding, and the Megan chick he is marrying is an American? Isn't that frowned upon? I thought that the Royals were only supposed to marry British women of reasonably high social standing.

There has been much too much marrying of own cousins in the Royal Family and it is necessary for genetic health for the present and next generations to marry out to make sure we don't end up with a King who has two heads and no thumbs.
