I tried part 1 as a free download and got a pop up about joining for free, closed that and got a countdown. After the countdown I unchecked the "download with Filefactory's download manager" box and the download started.
I'm a premium member with FF so I also logged in to try part 2 and the download started straight away. So I had no problems with downloading, I'm in the UK if that makes any difference. Maybe someone else can also test it.

Filefactory (19-9-2013):
All files uploaded by free members after 19 September 2013 will automatically become public and searchable in the upcoming FileFactory Search Engine. On 1 October 2013 all files in free accounts regardless of the upload date will become public. If you do not wish for your files to be shared with others, please upgrade to a Premium account. |

Thought I'd pass on a little info I got from FF, as to any links here recently
that have been timing out on them....be they free OR premium users. The past couple of months, they've been in the process of updating old servers with new ones. Meaning that those links that have been timing out, are those that are in the process of being moved from an old server to a new one, to help alleviate any future problems. The first time I noticed it, and was told what was going on, the few days they told me it would take, turned into a couple of weeks before all of the links worked again. Since then, I guess through practice or whatever, it doesn't seem to be taking near as long. Never did hear exactly how many servers they were in the process of changing out, but they seem to be keeping it to one at a time, and as I just said, getting faster about it. Hopefully they'll get the crap over with soon, and it will help any future downtime in the future, but if ya do run into any FF links that are timing out on you, that's what's going on, and they should be up and working again before too awfully long. |

an addon to Firefox called "Downthemall". From my experience with DTA, it sucks with other file hosts, but seems to be custom made or something for FF. |

FileFactory just got a whole lot better for free users, or at least for this one (me).
Beginning yesterday, I've been able to download several files at the same time using firefox, and I am a non-paying (free) FF user. FWIW, I'm getting my max download speed (300+ KB/s) and downloading four 300MB files simultaneously, and there was no waiting or captcha code required. I wonder how long it will last?

Filefactory are also quite good on price, I am nine months into a one year subscription and they've just sent me an email. Purchase a further years subscription for half price, £25. Rapidshare I would need to buy the 700gb package at £167.39 per year.

Most likely its to do with this posted back in late August "I think FileFactory is a pretty good site AS LONG AS you are downloading files from the users who have direct downloads enabled for free users" Apparently FF is now searchable for free or premium users with a verified email address Last filehost that I came upon with that facility - 2shared - killed it when their bandwidth usage skyrocketed Allowing the millions to find files easily is a double edged sword |

is to download from FF. For free users, there's no change at all to speak of from the normal downloading procedure. For premium users however, it bypasses the download page, and immediately begins one's download. Trafficshare on the other hand, is a completely different animal. FF premium members, are allowed 25 gigs of trafficshare each month, which allows things to be downloaded from that uploader, by everyone the same as if they were premium. Trafficshare can be enacted on all of one's files, or individual files also. As soon as that 25 gigs of bandwidth is used up though, all files will automatically revert back to as before. How long it takes for 25 gigs to be used up, is of course dependent upon how often someone's files are downloaded. Some folks for example, might very well last an entire month with their trafficshare enabled, and never deplete it. I turn mine on at the beginning of each month, after it's been reset, and have seen times when it's been used up in less than 2 hours, but hardly ever a full day. Direct download and trafficshare can also be used together, in which case all clicked on links, will bypass any download pages, and immediately begin one's download, whether one is premium or not......that is until of course the uploader's 25 gigs of bandwidth is used up. A more likely scenerio I think for any easier/faster downloads lately, might be to make up for the hassles brought on from them changing out old servers the past couple months. Who knows.....someone over there in Australia might have accidentally bumped a switch or something lol. If there's one thing that I've learned over the years from using Filefactory, is that there always seems to be a motive behind everything they do, be it trying to squeeze a dime out of everyone doing a download, thru various methods, or opening up the gates and making downloading and easier endeavor..... they're trying to get your business, the same as each and every file host or business might. Things are definitely getting better there though, which makes sense with all of the server upgrades and such they've done over the past couple years since taking on so many new users from all of the other file host shut downs. My advice, would be to not worry about how long any easy downloads may last, but to take advantage of it be it the result of FF making it easier, or someone enacting fileshare, and get to downloading lol. As far as the "searchable links" thing goes, it may or may not go exactly as how Buttsie described, depending on just how much more traffic it brings in to them, and whether or not all of their new upgrades can handle it. |

Just tried to log into FF since the beginning of the month, and it prompted me for a password (normally I'm logged in all the time, as this is my own computer). The password I thought I had didn't work, so I requested a change.
Got the email OK, changed my password, but the new password didn't work either! Requested another password, that didn't work either. Logged a ticket with support. They were very prompt, and reset my password for me and gave me a new PW. However, they were so prompt I had already tried "reset your password"... arrggghhh!!! Somewhere in there I read that FileFactory had a hack attempt and all users were required to reset their passwords, so maybe my cookie didn't expire. Anyway, I managed to reset my password and I can now get in, but I'm concerned that somehow my account has been hacked. Next, I try to access the FTP site to upload some files... arrrgghhhh! "Access has been disabled due to violations of our fair use policy". So my account is OK, I just can't access FTP???? Log another ticket. Their reply is not so prompt, "that account setting is only enabled when someone is uploading thousands of small files to the FTP service in an attempt to disrupt other people's upload speed". As I type this, they've just emailed so say it's been sorted. The first problem was fixed within minutes, the second took about two hours, but that's alot better than some other filehosts. Probably helped that I'm a Premium member. I can't seem to find that reference to the security breach. Has anyone else been told to reset their passwords? It's got me a little worried.
