In the days before the internet and wall to wall news coverage, it was rare to know who was the prime minister or presidents wife (with the exception of Jackie Kennedy who has a full thread here), so the marriage of a middle aged politician to a girl 30 yrs younger than him was something that grabbed the headlines

Beyond the normal extensive publicity that her high-profile position brought, on a few instances she made her own headlines. Margaret smuggled drugs in the prime minister's luggage, made scantily clad appearances at Studio 54, and tore apart a tapestry in the prime minister's official residence in Ottawa because it celebrated "reason over passion".

Over time, the marriage disintegrated to the point that, as recounted in her book, Margaret had an affair with U.S. Senator, Ted Kennedy ... luckily for her they flew everywhere.

Tokyo police arrested 39 -year-old singer and actress Noriko Sakai on drug possession charges after her husband was arrested earlier and she disappeared. She later turned herself in at a Tokyo police facility.

Ms Sakai rose to fame in 1987 after releasing a single, Otoko no Ko ni Naritai, a few days before her 16th birthday. Known as Nori-P during her early career, she began to use her real name after turning to acting in the 1990s. One of her most acclaimed roles came in TV melodrama Hitotsu Yane no Shita.

"Noriko Sakai was arrested and we would like to offer an apology to all her fans for the trouble caused," said Masahisa Aizawa, president of Sakai's management company, Sun Music.

"I would like her to reflect on what she has done and feel the weight of the crime she has committed."

Joyce DeWitt, who played the character Janet Wood, in the hit tv series “Three’s Company” (never heard of it) was arrested in Southern California for DUI.

Police said that DeWitt was pulled over on Saturday afternoon after she drove past a barricade near an El Segundo park. Sgt. Danny Kim says their officer arrested Joyce DeWitt, 60, after noticing she had been drinking and giving her the standard field sobriety tests.

DeWitt was released on her own recognizance.

County Sheriff attempted to stop her from moving forward and in the process his watch became caught on her car. She continued driving, dragging him alongside the car until other officers finally got her to stop.

The officer was treated at a nearby hospital for a sprained arm. The actress was arrested and booked on a charge of felony hit and run. She was released on $50,000 bail.

in 2003 Actress Joey Lauren Adams who appeared in films like "Chasing Amy" and "Big Daddy," was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Adams, 38, was later released on her own recognizance, the San Diego Union Tribune reported.

Police said she was arrested early Friday after an officer saw her pull into a gas station and stop after hitting the curb a few times. Adams' blood-alcohol level was 'not immediately available'.

Police spokesman Dave Cohen did not return calls seeking comment, and a dispatcher who answered the phone said officers would not comment until the following Monday.

I have no idea who this feisty thing is but she apparently has plenty of spirit .... according to this other story she has filed a complaint against Pyarelal Kundershah, the producer of two Tamil films stating that although he was already married, the producer sexually molested her to force the actress to marry him .... he then threatened to acid burn her if she didn't agree.

He states that the row was over money and that she had taken Rs 5 lakh from him and she had also borrowed money to the tune of Rs 8 lakh from time to time (a total of 1,300,000 Rupees = $28,325 or £18,890), citing various reasons. When he demanded that she return the money, Tanuja had allegedly refused and threatened to lodge a sexual complaint against him. This is not all. Kundershah also claimed that Tanuja had lured him to have sexual intimacy with her, but 'all these days he had been resisting her moves'.

If she was British the tabloids would love her ...... I am not even sure of these pictures are the correct woman as indian web sites stick pictures of other 'stars' into the stories .....
