This little tidbit comes from Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Diane Tirado, an 8th grade teacher, learned the hard way about today's environment, and expectations that baffle the mind.

She assigned her students a project that took two weeks to complete. A number of students didn't turn in the assignment and were awarded a zero for their (lack of) effort.

Apparently, the West Gate school has a provision in their student handbook dictating that the lowest possible grade a student can be given is 50%. The school informed the teacher that despite the fact that the student turned nothing in, they still were to receive the minimum score.

She refused, asking why would anyone expect to receive half credit for doing absolutely nothing. She was then terminated by the school's principal.

When confronted, school officials pussed out and directed inquires to the public information officer who spewed some rubbish that the district itself didn't have such a policy but it's acceptable that this school did.

In parting, the now deposed teacher said "I'm so upset because we have a nation of kids that are expecting to get paid and live their life just for showing up. It's not real".

Sadly, it's all too real. And likely to get worse.

Thank God I'm knocking on the door to retirement, it's bad enough all these stonewall surveys we get pestered with at work, I work with plenty gay people and have no issue at all, as long as any fellow employee can do their job I don't care what they do in their private lives, just the same as I don't ask my straight colleagues or friends how their private lives are.

If your boss orders you not to take a shit in the company parking lot and you do it anyway, what would you expect to happen? In any normal position you'd be fired on the spot, while this priest was only punished with a leave of absence. If anything, he got off lucky.
