I'm currently trying the ImageHost Grabber and so far its good, but I have a problem with files that are not being recognized as pictures.
Not sure what kind of uploads these are but even when saving them manually from the imaghoster there is no extension.
Take this as example:
http://www.imagebam.com/image/b5b36d6416257/
Trying to save it just gives the name "6416257.*", so how can those be pulled down?

JD isn't an option because it already shows files offline that are online.

Take this post:

I used the ImageHost Grabber(didn't get all), after that tried JD2(also didn't get all) and still I had almost 10 images that I had to get manually down.
Hope anyone has an idea how to solve this.

I just tried these. The first image downloaded with no problem both by 'drag and drop' and using 'save as'; 6416257 is the file name assigned by the uploader. I used FF ImageHostGrabber on your second link and got 72 images with no problem. The file extensions in the post links are .gif but IHG recognized them as .jpg and when downloaded they show as jpegs for me. I don't see anything wrong with the image links in these posts.

A crap, NoScript did it. Turned it off and now it works perfectly.

Another option is Scrapbook, which downloads JPG's, but also files of other types, like PDF's. However, like the extension you're using, it saves the files under the name that the image site uses. Because it also saves HTML source, you usually have to go back and sort out files by type and size.

Specifically with your issue, however, Imagebam is problematic with large image files, no matter what you use. It is just not predictable as to when it will finish loading an image, and when it will prematurely stop loading. I find with Scrapbook that about 10% of the images saved are simply cut off part of the way through the image. So, it's just difficult to download off of Imagebam, with any FF add-on.

Default Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon 0.9.1 by Jesse Hakanen

Possibly already well known maybe even mentioned in this thread but a search didnt reveal it

I'd imagine in all the talk people think one ad-block-plus with filters is all there is
apparently not

About this Add-on

By default, Firefox or Adblock Plus doesn't block any pop-ups that are opened on mouse clicks or other user events.

This addon complements Adblock Plus with the pop-up blocking functionality.

There are two ways of getting rid of an unwanted pop-up with this addon:

Adding the pop-up's url to Adblock Plus' filters. This will block just the individual pop-up (or any other pop-up which matches the pattern you decide to write).

Creating a site rule in this addon's preferences for the opener site. This will prevent the opener site from opening pop-ups completely. This is especially useful for sites that change their pop-up urls frequently.

You can do both of these tasks easily by right clicking on the pop-up window and selecting "Block this window".

buttsie,

Whenever I'm installing FF the first thing I do after a successful install is to go to this page:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...vacy-security/

And install all six of the security apps in "Most Popular". Seems to keep FF pretty clean and not a lot of annoyances.

Then why do you have to keep re-installing Firefox?

Ummm, because I just love to uninstall and reinstall things?

Have done it quite a bit lately but mainly on friends and clients computers. Did it twice on my mom's new computer two days ago but thats because she had over a thousand unread emails (almost all spam) and one of them turned out to be a really nasty virus. Rather than mess with it I just repartitioned and reinstalled everything.

No big deal.

Reminds me of the "millions of flies can't go wrong" bonmot.

Just like with g* play store, moz addons are theoretically screened, but that has little effect on the average quality. Going to a security tool repository but then leaving the actual selection to the mob seems - weird.

There's just 2 Addons that are indispensable: Adblock and Noscript. Use jdownloader 2, and don't use any plugin to feed it - just the clipboard monitor. I also use Adblock element hider, Blender, CS Lite Mod, Smart Referer, Setting Sanity, and Duck as Search Engine (plus non-security related stuff), but that's personal paranoia.

With this setup, I don't have truncated file problems with imagebam. Factors: imagebam delivers frame pages using dynamic links to the actual image itself. Those are very short-lived. JD2, as opposed to JD1, resolves the "frame" address to the "image" address both while doing the online check, and while starting the actual download. Bandwidth and concurrent loads also factor in.

The setup is also safe, protects against every trick used by the marketing mafia I know of, protects against any browsing-related malware - as long as you don't whitelist anything. Whitelisting judiciously and still remaining safe from tracking requires more - I close down flash and dom storage elsewhere and killbit silverlight, but I know of no protection against the history leech trick except not whitelisting...

Gotta disagree a bit. Adblock and Noscript are definitely indispensible but the other four (at least as far as I'm concerned) are also important.

Better Privacy is the only app I know of which will deal with lso's. I wish it would just block them from being placed in the first place but I guess thats just not possible at the moment.

And if you know of another method of dealing with trackers I'm all ears. Any tracking of my activity, by anybody, is a bad thing as far as I'm concerned. If you don't mind being tracked then don't use it. So I'll keep using Ghostery until there is either a better method or companies and the feds decide they won't track us any longer. Fat chance of that.

WOT and the Adblock Plus plugin I'm not all that sure about but they do seem to keep me from seeing all the pop ups that others around here complain about.

So as long as they work I'm not going to complain.
