Again, as I've said above in post #38134,

don't count your eggs until they hatch and in this case, don't spend your money before you made it.

This landlord has no one to blame but himself.

Kids leaving school and marching along the streets of London protesting about the climate changing and possibly being destroyed by politicians and worldwide presidents who don't seem to care about the environment. Right on! in this country and others if you want something done you have to shout and rant and rave before something is done. I'd like to highlight that kid Greta Thunberg who told leaders in Poland last month, they were not mature enough to realise what they doing to the planet. It takes a 15yr old kid to show these fools up and hopefully that and the demonstrations today will show that we cannot afford to ignore this any more. Protests took place in 60 towns and cities with an estimated 15,000 taking part. Now that's people power.

Instead of being driven to school in a Mitsubishi Shogun or Range Rover etc a lot of children on Friday were driven to a climate change demo in a Mitsubishi shogun instead.

Let's save the planet kids!

A failure to communicate. Two police officers enter apartment, find man and a dead woman, beheaded with a large kitchen knife which lays on the floor. Man speaks Spanish, Officers speak English. Is he asking to see their badges? I don't need no stinking badges.

I am glad they killed him. I doubt anything he would have said would have exonerated him. I am wondering what the people who barricaded themselves in had to say about this knife wielding lead magnet.

They didn't restrain him. Far more often than not, the police will take such a suspect alive and without a shot fired, even in the USA. Usually they act with speed and full use of necessary force to restrain such a suspect as soon as they clap eyes on him (its usually him and the murder victim is usually her). I wouldn't support any disciplinary measures because the shot man created this situation and pretty much committed suicide. But I would seriously consider this as a police failure and possibly a problem to be dealt with by re-training and a review of procedures. As I say, situations like this one are usually dealt with without needing to open fire.

Regarding that beheading in Seattle. Notice the apartment entrance door and the bedroom door all have damage from the knife wielding perp battering his way in. That saying about when seconds count, the police are minutes away comes to mind.

I don't think you can pay someone enough to wrestle away a knife from a guy who has a headless corpse next to him. Our jails are full enough already. The police showed admirable restraint not killing the guy when he wouldn't lay on the ground up until he grabbed the knife again.

This is like at least the fourth beheading in the Seattle Tacoma area in the last few years. Different suspects. This is the first one killed by police, I don't believe the police were thinking of that, but at least this guy won't kill again.

I agree that this fellow is no loss to society. I simply think he could have been taken alive, as such people usually are. To be fair, once he was attacking the police officers they were absolutely right to kill him, and as I say, he is no loss to the gene pool. But according to the written story he did lie down, and that was the opportunity to pounce on him and subdue him.

The officers order the man to get on the ground and, after first hesitating, the man lays face-first down on the floor, but fails to fully comply with commands and continues to erratically move.
I would have tasered the bastard for lack of full compliance, as much taser as needed to weaken him; and then given him some night stick massage if he showed any sign of wanting to fight back, and got those bracelets on asap. Pretty rough, but his victim was right there in the room, minus her head, so why not be rough? However, he'd be alive and facing the music, where I suspect he'd get whole of life or the gallows. I have a bit of a preference for perpetrators to face justice, and being shown to the world for how low they truly are, instead of opting out as this man did.

Apparently not all Seattle police have tasers. https://www.cnn.com/2017/06/19/us/se...rnd/index.html

I am not sure how many police would be the first to holster their sidearm, enter the doorway, block the view of the supporting officer and confront a suspected murderer with a knife next to him. I don't think many would.

Maybe we just value human life differently. There is a lot of garbage in the US that needs to be cleaned up and our jails are so full they early release most prisoners. https://www.haaretz.com/.premium-ear...nces-1.6338521 People like the dead perp in Seattle, ....not going to raise a ton of protestors that he got blown away. Most people here are happy he is dead. A number are questioning the silence on this dead perp, it is believed he is an illegal immigrant which is why the PC authorities/media are silent about even his name.

America locks up far too many people for long sentences over trivial offences which should be punished as misdemeanors. Where so many prisons are private corporations who profit from overcrowding, the incentives are perverse and the state is encouraged to over-use prison as a sanction. This makes for a problem when you need to lock up genuine pondlife for the public good.

I don't value this particular man's life at the worth of a bag of aluminium washers. However I deprecate police shooting suspects on general principles because it undermines civilisation. Policemen have to be allowed to shoot in extreme situations - but it must never become routine or readily accepted; it should always be a last resort. I wouldn't be happy he is dead, but I appreciate of course that the true reason why he is dead is because he richly deserves to be dead.
