It is great to see a lot of new, high-quality catalog scans posted here in the past few months!

BTW - I have the entire ZuhlCity.com collection to upload if anyone is interested. For those of you not familiar with his work, Zuhl (whatever his real name was) created and for several years regularly expanded a web site consisting of high-quality catalog lingerie scans from every major North American retailer from the early 1960s to the mid-1980s! (Aldens/Bellas-Hass/Etons/JC Pennys/Sears/Simpsons Sears/Spiegel/Montgomery Wards.) Virtually every significant issue (fall/winter/spring/summer) for every year of this time span is covered. I have never see another site with anywhere near the amount of content they had. Total content I downloaded before the site closed was 3.38 GB: 204 folders (each folder = one issue's lingerie and/or swimsuit section) for a total of 7,067 ~ 1200x1600 HQ images. IMHO Zuhl deserves top ranking and highest praises in the vintage lingerie catalog scan Hall Of Fame!

I have seen small sampling of images covered in the Zuhl City Collection in prior postings here, but maybe only a few percent of the total content and then often in a smaller resolution and/or lower quality.

While it would be easiest to zip these folders and post them at RapidShare or something like it, many people don't have or want to pay for access to such (myself included) and would rather browse thumbnails here and only download the images they prefer... If I get enough requests here to do so, I'll begin this gigantic task shortly, as my spare time allows, starting alphabetically (Aldens) in the early 60s -- and moving up from there...

Let me know what you guys think!

Smile 1979 catalog scans

This is my first attempt to post some scans of mine so hopefully this works. These are from 1979 JCP catalog. If you guys like these I can post some more. Let me know if the scans are too big. Is anyone interested in the black and white pics. I have several more catalogs from the 70s and 80s that I can scan when I get time.

Total agreement with you on this, VidCapGuy. Zuhl had an awesome pool of classic lingerie / swimsuit ads to dip into.

I can appreciate that it will be a helluva slog to upload several GB of files, but take heart, my friend, there will be innumerable thanks and praise heaped at your VEF doorstep!

My libido anxiously awaits your first offering...

Guys -- love the scans but when you scan catalogs, books or magazines, my experience says that you should turn on the 'descreen' filter. They'll come out a lot better--at least they do for me.

Sorry, Zuhl City didn't have any Macy ads... sure wish they did. http://www.bilkoscans.wanadoo.co.uk/ used to have some newer Macys but they closed too.

Great idea; and I appreciate what an effort it would be.
I also have an almost complete series of the slip catalogue pics from the Zuhcity site (it disappeared about a year or so ago).
They were great, because they were all high quality images.
And yes; many of the pics posted on this site of ads from the 70's to 80's can be traced back to the Zuhcity scans.
I spent a bit of time separating the images out and editing them with a simple editor (irfanview), resulting in about 2000 individual images (examples to follow). I was thinking of doing a series of posts, one for each catalogue scan, with the separate images. This is also a massive task, and I was about to start when I finished my current series in the wife&girlfriend thread.

Good luck with your task; and I'll follow it up with individual pics and anything you've missed.

ps: Many of the Zuhcity scans date from the early 60's, and don't really fit this thread oof 70's to 90's scans.

Default Zuhcity scans

Here's a few examples of the separated pics from the scans.
All the pics are not this high quality; but you can get the idea of how good the original sans were; because these extracts are a fraction of the size of the original pics.
