Interesting news from the Championship. Nottingham Forest have the self professed best striker in the world now on their books. Nicklas "Lord" Bendtner has signed a two year deal with the club its been announced.

I read today that Bendtner has only started 77 top-flight league games in his career. Almost a third of them were when on loan at Sunderland in 2011/12. At 28 he should have started more top flight games than that. I guess it shows either a lack of ability or a lack of trust in his managers over the years. A comparison with his old club mate Fabregas is that Cesc had made 77 top flight appearances by the time he was 20.

Moscow I think will be the one most avoid simply because of the abuse they may get. Russian football sadly is still stuck in the 80's in terms of hooligans and racists. Players and fans alike maybe subject to abuse with racist chanting. Also given the trouble over the summer even attacked physically by CSKA's Ultra's.

To be Fair to Niklas B....
Bruce took him on loan to Birmingham in 2006-ish 48 appearances, 13 Goals for the Championship side, which may indicate his true level as a teenager. Returning to Arsenal in 2007 he'd won a 5-year contract but couldn't really get past Adebayor or RVP. His subsequent nomadic life saw him make appearances for Sunderland, Juventus and Wolfsburg, scoring only 17 goals between 2011-16. His social life and high profile 'celebrity' status in Denmark did more to keep his name in the forefront, than did his football. imo ~ a long since spent force, that will take some effort from the manager and himself to put football first. |

Yes I think its a case of too much too soon for him. He is a player that people like Sterling should look at and try to avoid becoming. I say that because I have a sense that Sterling feels he is better than he actually is and if he believes his own hype he will stumble and fall. Bendtner started to believe his own spiel and self promotion. He then in my view stopped pushing himself and stopped progressing as a player. The rest then is history. Bendtner is not the first and certainly won't be the last player to fall well short of expectation, mainly due to their own issues.
Some players like Cantona do step up, they do grow up and they become the player that they originally were expected to be. Others like Balotelli simply don't and they never fulfill their potential and throw away an opportunity millions would give anything for. Forest are hoping they will be the catalyst for Bendtner to be reborn like Cantona. He was viewed in a similar fashion as Bendtner for a while until he exploded onto the scene at Leeds and United. However I have a feeling that its more likely he will end up going the Balotelli route and making lots of cash but doing sod all. |
