I think SAF would probably deny it but I think he's waiting to get the record for domestic top flight titles and hoping to get another CL winning side -the latter is an area where I think he's still underachieved - I'm sure he'd love to build a team that's regarded as unquestionably the best in Europe and Ronaldo's signing would be the next part of that jigsaw. I bet he wishes he could pick up the 'new' Roy Keane as well - with Scholes and Giggs realistically past their best, especially in European terms, there's still a bit of work to do on the midfield. I bet he'd give a lot to persuade Wilshire to go north. I also wonder how long it'll be before Baines is in a red jersey - next season I suspect.

Where Jose ends up is still anyone's guess. I still think Inter were the perfect club for him, as his preferred style of football fits them like a glove. I think he'd love to return to Chelski but how long before he falls out with RA? It would seem inevitable.

The man most likely to suceed Wenger is now at Bayern - Pep's a big admirer of Wenger and if Arsene had stepped upstairs into the 'director of football' role then I could imagine PG working as manager at the same club - it might still happen, whenever AW finally runs out of excuses for trophy-less seasons.

Meanwhile, in deepest Yorkshire, conspiracy theories about the Papa Smurf Beast gather momentum: that he's sold the ground and training facility not to a third party but to himself; that he still somehow is draining the club of cash - there's approx £6m per year going out in 'professional fees' which has yet to be explained properly. Whoever we sell, clearly the money doesn't get spent on new players. The belter is that he sold the ground but has mortgaged the season ticket sales and catering franchise income for years to come, to be spent on 'improving' the ground - which we no longer own??? And the new owners are convincing nobody that they have any serious cash to invest or a clue what they are doing. We've been bought by the only cash-strapped finance company in Dubai. That takes some doing...

Man Utd made the mistake before of having an ex manager on the board, having someone like Matt Busby breathing down you neck cant have been good for them can it? Perhaps theyll make that mistake again!!!!

It's not a managerial role to be envied.

Real Madrid - Mourinho will undoubtedly get the sack in the summer. Michael Laudrup is the fans favourite to take over there.
What makes me laugh is fans demand managers heads etc really not looking who will take it on

We've had it under Warnock and Hughes in recent times and you would have to say that each manager change has better pedigree but one thing for sure, Warnock got the best out of the players, each player was worth something now it appears we're just waiting whilst the fat lady clears her voice and everyone has given up including the fans which makes for crappy atmosphere.

We have Cotterill on board with us and word is if/when Harry walks when we're relegated, Cotterill will take over, just thought i'd mention that if the odds are up, chuck a fiver on it

AS far as Di Canio for WHU, the fans would love it to be him
Why? A loutish lunkhead with dubious Right-Wing views and zero man-management skills. I respect West Ham, their history, the great players they've produced and their fans but De Canio to me is just a latin Roy Keane without the charm and the self-deprecating humour...

I can see Rooney heading across the channell to PSG or even further
Rooney should go to Bayern, their style of football would suit him, their professionalism and discipline would improve him as a player and as a man.

Yep, we went from Stale Solbakken, a man with a plan, to Dean Saunders whose plan consists of kick and rush.

The results were miserable under Mick, terrible under tarry and stuttering under Stale. Conclusion from the owner - it's not the players who were pish under three managers it's the manager.

We were struggling under Stale that's true, but from third after 10 games to third last with a little over 10 to go...

To many at West Ham the man's a legend, but Swindon actually play football and score goals at an alarming rate, we under Fat Sam are just boring and predictable now. Four at the back, five across the middle, one up front who we hoof it too, the rest of the prem teams have worked it out, Allardyce has not and has no plan B. Looking at our remaining games, it is difficult to see where points are going to come from.

Di Canio has to be far better option than Allardyce if we survive this year, Bilic would be nice, but thats just not going to happen.

RoadDogg. To answer your question a couple of pages back, I'm a Gooner. Totally agree with your post about the call for managers heads after a short time. Look at Newcastle. Hughton takes them back to the Prem. They're doing OK, then the plum in charge sacks him. For what?
Tam. I don't know if you're a Hearts fan but I have a soft spot for them after the 86 seasson when they came so near to it all.
As for Wenger. He's staying. Best man for the job. For a few years he's tried to build a team through youth. It failed. Now he's going back to a mixture of youth and experience. All he needs to do is get rid of Gervinho and our problems are over.

It was 1977 and Spurs were in the 2nd Division. The previous week we had lost 4-1 at Charlton Athletic and our list of injured players was so long that we had to sign a completely unknown forward as an emergency from lowly Torquay United just to make up a starting XI.

He arrived at White Hart Lane on the Thursday and was on the team-sheet for the match on Saturday. His name was Colin Lee.

Roger. Rovers are my local team. It was rare in those days for MOTD to show Div 2 games. If you remember they also showed the return fixture which Spurs won 3-2. Barry Daines scored an own goal with an overhead kick IIRC. A few years later Spurs played at the old Eastville to celebrate Rovers centenary which Spurs won 3-2 again. Someone near me pointed out that three World Cup winners were on the pitch. Ardiles and Villa for Spurs and one Alan Ball for Rovers.
Eastville now has a Tesco and Ikea sat on it.

Default Stoke v West Ham

10 minutes in and two substitutions already, Collison for Taylor kicked in the face by Crouch, no card of any description, Vaz Te for Joe Cole hamstring.

almost half an hour in and we are having slightly the better of it.
