I can't believe Uma Thurman was 17 years old in this:

Sudden Impact (1983)

Trailer

Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) is back to clean up the dirt in his native San Francisco. But it's the eighties and everyone has become a pussy. His superiors hate Harry because they're more concerned about their public image and further career prospects than fighting crime while a gang of local punks and a mafia boss simply want him dead. Wherever Harry goes, trouble follows or was it the other way round? Everyone hates Harry, probably even his dead mother. A young artist, Jennifer Spencer (Sondra Locke), lets herself get picked up by a horny dude, only to kill the bastard before he could pull out his pecker. Turns out he was part of a group of scumbags who raped Jennifer and her sister ten years earlier. The SFPD is forcing Callahan to take some time off but the old cop ain't up for a vacation, so they send him off to the small town of San Paulo where Jennifer Spencer's acts of vigilantism continue.

Dirty Harry goes 80s and that means a predictable plot with lots of kitsch and goofiness, making the film look like a parody of the earlier installments in the series. Mind you, I've only seen the first two and this is pretty much where the series ends for me. This time Eastwood would sit in the director's chair which wasn't of any benefit for the film if you ask me. You can almost tell that Sudden Impact was directed by the same guy who did Firefox the year before. Mediocre directing, more mediocre acting, bad character development and too much violence mark this picture. It seems like most of the cast were hired to serve as mere targets to pop up every time Eastwood's character needs to shoot someone or something. The body count and Dirty Harry's cult catchphrase "Go ahead. Make my day..." is pretty much all this film relies on. With commercial success back in 1983 but not much else.

Rampage (2018)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2231461/

It's been out a while but I've avoided it so far and not read up about it so I had no preconceived ideas and it was a decent action pic

After an accident on a space station in Earth orbit where they are genetically experimenting on rats the containers with the pathogens fall to Earth where they infect an intelligent white ape who happens to be Dwayne's friend, an alligator and a wolf. The creatures grow many times their original size with increased aggression and have been programmed to head towards the HQ of the company in Chicago.

Great fun, just accept the all American hero nonsense and sit back and watch the mega beasts go ape

I watched Deadpool 2 Super Duper Cut - http://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/d...tras-revealed/

It was hilarious. I had heard that the original director Tim Miller and Ryan Reynolds disagreed so Miller left - I do wonder what movie he had in mind. I did miss the Stan Lee cameo and had to go to youtube to find where it was. The film clips in the end credits were worth watching. And yes, the Vanisher is who you think it is.

I'd give it 5 of 5 stars.

I'll go see Deadpool 3 when it come out.

Watching Ocean's 8.

Cate Blanchett looking sexy in tight leather again (last time it was Thor Ragnarok).

Anne Hathaway looks so sultry.

Ocean's 8 (2018)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5164214

This is supposed to be a heist caper movie... really? A street level 2 bit petty thief could had done what it took 8 women to do without all that glitz and shine and constant talking into earphones, oh the horror of seeing shot after shot of them talking into earphones and being very conspicuous about it!

It's also supposed to be a comedy movie... really? Not one scene was funny unless you still have the immature asinine moronic mentality of an 3 year old and you still find enjoyment in watching Anne Hathaway with her head over a toilet bowl and puking her guts out.

It's also supposed to be a thriller... really? There were no thrills, no suspense, no sense of impeding doom or menace that they were going to be caught or that the law was nipping at their heels 1/2 a step behind them.

This movie is yet another Hollywood's failed attempt to remake or reboot a movie, rewrite its original strong male cast by replacing with a female cast and celebrate woman's power.

There is nothing wrong with that, if you give the female characters something interesting and intelligent to do, it will work fantastically well:

i.e. the recent Wonder Woman and Atomic Blonde.

BUT nope, the writers of this film chose to write lazy shallow characters just for the sake of writing female characters like we have seen in the recent Ghostbusters or the many Melissa McCarthy's movies laced with juvenile locker room and toilet humor.

Finally, this is also another attempt by Hollywood to be politically correct: let's make sure we have a token Black character (or two), a token Hispanic character, a token Asian character (or two): after all, we don't want to alienate any race, do we?

This should had been called Ocean's Meh instead of Ocean's 8.

Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter, all great actresses in their own right who have over the years, proven themselves over and over again to be talented at making great films, should be ashamed for agreeing to do this farce just for the sake of bringing a bunch of actresses together.

I bet Ol' Blue Eyes is rolling in his grave right now after seeing how a politically correct female enpowered driven Hollywood has turned his beloved movie premise into a piece of celluloid garbage.

If any of you think I am on a personal agenda against female characters driven movie, you will be deadly sadly wrong.

I am not the only male (and female) who thought this latest entry into the forced female remakes stunk:

0/5

Icarus XB 1 (1963)

Trailer

In the year 2163 the starship Ikarie XB-1 is on its way to Alpha Centauri, the closest star to our solar system. Two planets are possibly in the habitable zone with one of them, referred to as the "White Planet", enjoying the crew's particular attention. Travelling at near-light speed, the journey takes around 28 months and the ship's multinational crew must adjust to life in space and various hazards like the radiation emitted by the invisible "dark star".

A fascinating little science fiction gem from Czechoslovakia, often cited as an influence on Kubrick's much better known masterpiece 2001. Loosely based on Stanislaw Lem's novel The Magellanic Cloud, Jindřich Polák's Icarus XB 1 may very well be one of the first modern science fiction films. It's the missing link between the overly optimistic and cheesy 1950s space flicks and the more sober, existential and pessimistic science fiction pieces of the late 1960s and 70s like 2001 or Solaris. The cinematography is very reminiscent of European new wave cinema and you get to see some nudity but this would only be the first impression of someone who grew up in a capitalist society. For the creators of this film, this is a scenery of naturalism. Men and women live together, work together and share everything. A very ambitious film in its time and highly recommended for every fan of serious science fiction.

Let The Right One In. A Swedish romantic horror about a twelve year old boy and his first love. Amazing to think the two leads were only eleven when it was made. Their performances are astonishing.

Usually one of Spielberg's less-loved efforts... 1941. I love it. It's dumb and it makes me laugh.
