Many OAPs don't need the bus pass or the heating allowance - I spend mine on drugs and hookers and no way would I sit on a bus with all those poor people - the Merc is much more pleasant.

Did you see that story of the bride that stole a large amount of money from her place of work for her wedding, which included facepainting, fireworks and lavish food and even invited her boss -what idiot would invites their boss to a function paid for by them, knowing that it could arouse suspicion-she deserves everything she gets and in her case it is twenty months in gaol

Yes that is the correct if old English name for it, you could use slang terms like 'jug' 'pokey' or 'slammer' even 'in clink' but 'jail' is American spelling and you know I hate to use Americanisms if I can help it-reminds me of something that Tony Hancock says in "The Americans Hit Town", "I don't mind Americans, when they're in America, don't even mind them coming over here taking pictures of soldiers in Busbys but I won't be occupied!" I just don't want our language to be infiltated more than it is that's all.

Just to clarify Hancock, he was worried that if the American GIs came over they would occupy the local park where he would have "nowhere to meet girls and nowhere to slide!"(when the park keeper wasn't watching)

Phrase I hate the most at the most "I'm Loving It!" thanks McDonalds!! so you get things like "I'm loving that hat" or in the case of Davina 'Nutrisse' McCall "Loving the radiant blonde" for her advert for hair colouring. The English one that irritates me is "Can I just say..." well it is obvious you are going to say something otherwise you wouldn't be opening your mouth! I suppose I am turing into a grumpy old curmudgeon-gawd, that's a scary thought!
