Any party or school of thought that has an overwhelming advantage devolves to doctrinaire foolishness.

The issue for the Republican Party is they are trying to force two entirely different kinds of "conservative" to work together. A lot of the stupidity and idiotic public statements seem to come from social conservatives. These are the religious right, the Pro-Lifers, basically the people who want to turn the clock back to 1950.
The other kind of stupidity isn't quite so stupid IMO. They are the fiscal or economic conservatives, the ones who want to balance the budget, cut government costs and such. The basic idea behind them is sound, the problem comes when it gets carried to the extreme and mixed a bit with the "Protect Us Rich Old White Men" meme. Then you get the "tax everyone but the rich and provide no government services" idiocy.

Oh man, I'm bummed.
Ashley Judd has apparently decided not to run against the turtle in Kentucky in 2014! http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...nnell/2026167/ But, there's still hope! She may run against Rand Paul in 2016! http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics...d-run-in-2016/ |

Wow...you know your screwed when even your most vocal spokesperson is backpedalling on social issues. (Truth be told I suspect Rush is slightly less conservative than he pretends to be on air. He invited Elton John to sing at his 3rd wedding.)

I know it's unbelievable but I've heard there are countries with more than two political parties. And they call this shit democracy, lol. They think a third or fourth party brings fresh air into the political process and helps to detach encrusted debris. Stupid motherfuckers.

Here in Britain David Milliband has resigned as an MP, he was the Foreign Secretary in the last Labour government. There are stories in the paper that should Hilary Clinton run for and be elected President he may end up in some role in her administration. What are the rules on non American citizens serving in government?

Well I guess I will have to be a lone conservative voice in this thread. I have not read the whole thread but scanned through most of it. I went ahead and took the citizenship test and scored 100%, but since I was raised in the US that should be expected. If you were raised in the US and did not make 100%, go back to school or read a book. I would hate to think what I would score on another countries test. Probably fail miserably. Just another ignorant American.
Just to clarify right up front, I am not a Republican. I am a registered Independent. I prefer to think for myself by reading and then developing my own opinion rather than listening to political parties and the media. I am against both the Dems and the Repubs when it comes to fiscal policy. Neither is willing to go against their base in order to do the things that I think are needed. Just because I disagree with someone does not make them an idiot. If we all agreed on everything, then life would be very boring. There are even porn stars who profess to be Republican, so maybe they are not all that bad. |

Milliband's wife is an American and since baby bro followed in the family tradition of backstabbing Milliband Major has spent as much time in the US as he spent in Parliament, and a damn sight more than he ever spent in his constituency.
