What the fuck was that last play called by Denver offense just now on 4th down, with 16 seconds left, down by 4 points, 20+ some yards to the end zone with no time outs left?

Trying to chuck and hook and lateral.

What is this? College football?

We didn't know it throughout. But Norv's career is about to culminate with the greatness he's about to achieve at Carolina.

Definitely the weirdest thing we have seen since 9 guys lined up away from the ball. I guess Mahomes had the Denver coaches sniffing glue by the end.

Imagine all the coaches who will have to try and stop him for the next 15 years or so. Also, if Cleveland ever puts decent coaches together with Baker Mayfield it won't be fun for the rest of them, either.

In the meantime, Andrew Luck is auditioning for the Archie Manning award.

I dunno, Brian. My take, is when the new hot shot quarterbacks come into the league, it takes about two years for the opposition to put together a "book" on them, and then they become much less effective.

Elway lost his first three Super Bowls and struggled to get back. Dan Marino lost his only one and never got back. Peyton Manning struggled to win two. Drew Brees has one just one.

The lone exception seems to be Brady. As I have said many times, the key to beating Brady is to get in his face, and above all, jam the receivers at the line of scrimmage.

Had the first down and tried to be clever.

Hard to believe the finns were 3-0 on that performance, but the Pats Offence is starting to take shape, lookout.

Question

Denver blew it. But kudos to Patrick for his outstanding multi-threat attack. He was a star at TTech, and might have ended up a Bill had it not been for some late draft engineering. Interesting fact: the Chiefs chose Mahomes No. 10 in the first round. That's the first time they chose a QB in the first round since Blackledge in '83.

Passing up *ahem* Dan Marino.

Quite often in all sports a transcendent talent takes the league by storm. But management fails to address the aging of the roster. Witness Aaron Rodgers. A great QB keeping his team in contention and masking a multitude of sins.

I don't think it is so much opposing teams getting a "book" on a QB as it is that the O-line, receivers, running backs and defense get worse.

You will beat any quarterback with your Brady strategy.

Angry

Of course there are more TD passes this year than last year.

They made it that you can't no longer go after the QB without risking getting called for roughing the passer or unsportsmanlike conduct.

Anybody else watch the Patriots dispatch the Colts again?

It sure seemed to me that there were a lot no calls with this officiating crew. I saw many things both live and on replay that drew flags in other games.

All I can say is that if you are going to give Tom Brady that long to throw, you are not going to win the football game.
