I've said for a very long time that he's straightforward and you can take him at his word -- unlike nearly all western leaders, he doesn't BS, bluster or obfuscate

Concerning your strategic worries, Russia is a major supplier of energy to many of your allies, they want to continue receiving it and we want to continue supplying it. We know you have a problem with that because US doesn't like it. But in whose interests are you acting if you apply sanctions? Not your own, I'm quite sure

Anyway, your people voted over 60% to stay in the EU. That is the kind of majority you could come close to accepting for such a Constitutional change, although it should be 2/3, ie, 68%

51% is nowhere close, and not seen as sensible by any nation in Europe

Nice arguments but 100% wrong old chap You are looking at it through Red tinted glasses, we just present the facts as we were told them.

The over 60% you refer to is presumably a reference to our only other vote on the European issue in 1975

The question asked in 1975 was simple.....

Do you think the United Kingdom should stay in the European Community (the Common Market)?

Yes the vote was 67.23% in favour of remaining but there was no mention of a European Union anywhere so you are comparing two massively different scenarios. One was sold to the public as largely a trading bloc ... as it says on the tin a "Common Market", which was the name the EEC was widely known as.

The question on the 2016 vote was
Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?

Cameron phrased the terms of the referendum, a simple majority was all that was needed, he gambled on being able to frighten enough people to the REMAIN side with tales of impending doom and lost face horribly, he underestimated the British people (as did Theresa May )

What's done is done, is it not time to just accept it and move on? You'll not change the way any of us think about it. Even on the VEF straw poll the vote was 56.85% Leave

That's because apart from Rosestone, all those that voted here were males over the age of 40 (at least). This forum makes even me feel young!

But we're all young at heart

Who'd have thought this forum would ever be seen as being massively over-populated by middle-aged males

As they say 'Russia. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma'

They're Pro-Brexit, Anti-Gay but are World Number 1 for anal sex!
