Default Slower than regular bullets

I believe that bullets fired from firearms in movies are becoming slower over time.

Documentary bullets still have the same speeds now as they did in the 1940s. However in fictional cinema, I swear the amounts of time between when we see/hear the a sidearm or rifle fired and we see/hear the bullet holes near the target are getting longer.

The worst example was a 2012 or 2013 movie I watched last night. Three times we heard the pistol fire at a target less than 15 yards away: twice the hero had sufficient time to choose to move his/her hand away from the spot where the bullet holes then appeared, and once the hero was able to choose to move his entire body away from the impact point!

Remember that these bullets are supposed to be moving faster than the speed of sound and over such short distances there should be virtually no time between when we hear/see the weapon firing and hear/see the bullets hitting!

Maybe, in my old age, I'm just hearing slower ...

WHAT? JOSE MUST STEER THE MOWER? WHAT?

In all sincerity, lads and ladies, cats and kittens, pointers and setters, it's nice to see this thread still showing up now and then. Can't believe I started it with one lame post almost 7 1/2 years ago. Thanks to all who have participated, it's a jumpin' jack gas looking back through old posts!

Here's to the next 7 1/2 years! Thank you!

You can see the this in the briefing scene, when the fish guy is speaking (it's a trap).

Han says"parts and technical group for the forrest moon" over the radio.

So they plan to land on Endor, which has no shield, only a shield generator, which is pointing at the death star, so why do they need a code to de-activate it.

Unless i have missed something, this plot point is a bit daft.
yeah and why did the strike force wear camouflage yet bring along a bright yellow shiny robot?

Why do these guys go outside of their pods without tethers? Isn't that just
common sense?

You either need a propulsion system or need to be physically attached to one.

Sidebars: there was a Ray Bradbury story about an astronaut who fell back
to Earth and as he flashed on reentry, a mom said to her kid "make a wish!"

Beauty.

Look Mummy, there's an airplane up in the sky. :-D
don't pick on 2001. it's the only realistic space movie

For me that's one of the best parts of any Star Trek episode: PROBLEM SOLVING!

The scenes of them sitting around a conference table assessing a 'situation' makes for great storytelling.

When the episodes story features people in a dangerous situation (either on a ship, a planet etc) the captain turns to his crew and says "Here's the problem, people, how are we going to fix it?"

To me these are great examples of methodical planning, team work and offering/listening to others advice/opinions.

(Actually the original and best chase - in Bullitt - is one of the few where this *doesn't* happen, and it takes Steve McQueen quite a while to catch up with them.)

Usually the baddies are driving a sports car and the heroes are in a saloon and somehow they manage to keep up, too.

This is even funnier in the first Brosnan Bond movie where he's in a 60s Aston Martin DB5 racing a modern Ferrari on mountain roads . Top Gear tried a 60s DB5 on their usual circuit, and it was even slower than the Suzuki family saloon that they use for Star In A Reasonably Priced Car! Tyre, suspension and brake technology has come a *long* way.
hardly the best car chase
