Look. I don't want to take a crap on someone's passion. But I can't hack the lauding of Schumacher.

His stats completely skew his place amongst the greats. His success at Ferrari was primarily down to the advantage they had with Bridgestone. When they didn't have that advantage in 05, they were powerless.

Ferrari weren't a joke when Schumacher joined them. They were a very good team on the up when he joined them. When you have duds like Alesi and Berger driving your cars, it's understandable to think the team was a joke.

Even someone like Damon Hill, who people incorrectly underrate. Even if he was in a Ferrari in 94/95, he'd have won 3-4 races. When he kept his concentration, he was dominant like all the guys rated higher than him. He would've won the races Alesi and Berger should've in those years.

In this modern era the driver is a much smaller cog in a very large wheel....

Hamilton isn't the reason Mercedes are successful, its the team behind him. I digress; Ross Brawn ran/designed these successful Ferrari's in which Schumey won most of his titles; her then took over BAR & made it his own team of Brawn F1, which then went on to win the title under the right foot of Jenson Button, after which he sold out to Mercedes.

Since Ross left Ferrari they've won jack shit; as did Mercedes for those 4 RBR/Vettel dominated years, but since the hybrid era have been almost unbeatable themselves.

While I'll not deny that both Vettel & Hamilton have skills; they wouldn't have gotten into F1 had they not already have won more driver based championships; its sadly so much the car that wins the race, more for the driver to lose the race than win it once they're on front row.

Saying this with a long hatred for Hamilton, but with a clear mind on the truth....

Like I said I'm a Ferrari fan but I'm not blind by my "passion" as you say. I liked Schumacher but Ferrari comes first. It's a little bit simplistic to say Ferrari's success only boiled down to Bridgestone. And yes Ferrari were a joke when he came in. They hadn't won a WDC since 1979 and a WCC since 1983. People from other teams (Williams, McLaren, Benetton) were laughing at the pathetic farce that Ferrari's pitstops were. Alain Prost was fired in 1990 for saying that his car was a truck. Ferrari were great again when they decided to hire competent non-italian staff. And when they slided again circa 2008, it's because they went the italian route again. I'm of italian origin by the way.

Ferrari's success in the early 2000s boiled down to Bridgestone. Not just through an advantage they had over Michelin, but through favoritism towards them. That favouritism led to McLaren going with Michelin despite producing an inferior tyre. In 2005, when the rules regarding tyres were changed to the advantageof Michelin, Ferrari had gone from a statistically record setting season to being swamped by the Michelin runners and did not win a race. Despite the fact nothing else had changed within the team. The won despite a power advantage Willams had, and an aero advantage McLaren had.

Just because they were going through a title drought. It doesn't mean they were a joke. If you look at 1994/95 in isolation, Ferrari were very good. The weak links being Alesi and that potato Berger. Had the hired Mansell in those seasons for instance, 2-4 wins wasn't out of the question. The 3 wins Ferrari got in 96, improving from single wins in each of the 94/95 seasons, is credited to Schumacher presence But afaik, 3 wins is pretty much the amount of races they should've won in 94&95 anyway.

Not sure why Kimi was so pissed off at the end of the race today? Way I saw it he chose to pit earlier; like a lot of other cars did too; & was no more badly done by than the others who lost places to those who pitted later. Maybe if Kimi had driven a few faster laps of his own prior to his own stop, then he'd not have come out behind Vettel when he'd taken his? Verstappen & Bottas might feel just as aggrieved in losing out to Ricciardo after pit stops, but not seeing the same grumpy faces....

Shame JB dented his race by flipping that Sauber onto the barrier; but hope he does leave a 'present' for the returning Alonso, after having to soak up all his penalties despite ending qualifying in an impressive Q3...... Imagine what could have happened if he'd been allowed that P9 starting place? Hamilton got from 13 to 7, so in theory JB might have troubled the podium..?! (nice to have these dreams over such a truly nice guy).

F1 legend Takuma Sato wins Indy 500, with F1 legend Max Chilton just off the podium in 4th.

Fernando suffers yet another Honda engine failure .... this time when he was running nicely in 7th with only 25 of the 200 laps remaining.

The pot-luck risks of Indy racing shown up by the crash involving pole-sitter Scott Dixon. Absolutely zero chance of avoiding the collision and was inches away from getting his head crushed against the inside wall.

Roger... Neither Sato or Chilton could be considered legends, so I'll assume you meant that tongue in cheek? Also rans for sure.

Bet that engine failure isn't going to make things any better between Alonso & Honda??!
