"In domestic policy, the Trump agenda sounds like a blueprint for civil war; in foreign policy, it sounds like the dawn of a new ice age." and "With four ex-presidents sitting a few feet behind him, the 45th president delivered a populist manifesto. " Lord knows them folk hate the people, er I mean "populists", and having a leader actually deliver what the people who voted for him want, well, it's enough to get any fascist's panties in a knot. http://morningbriefing.handelsblatt....een-unchained/ Personally, I hope he pulls every single US base out of Europe, maybe leave one in the UK, dependent upon a swift, hard Brexit.

McDoanalds
I wouldn't bee too alarmed. This McDonald's auto outlet has been rumored to be ready for at least four years. I haven't been to Chez Jack much recently, but on my last visit, I didn't see a kiosk. It may be that robo kitchens can't deal well with special requests. Or that customers prefer dealing with human beings. But self driving trucks for long distance hauling will soon be here.
It is really rough trying to get by on minimum wage jobs. But the fact of the matter is that fast food workers can't be paid $50,000 a year for a forty hour week along with health insurance and paid vacations. The profit margins just aren't there. Many assembly line jobs are better done by robots. Many accounting clerk jobs have been eliminated by enterprise software programs. We really do need to find new ways to create jobs and generate wealth. Too many liberal arts, graphic design, and psychology majors are working at Starbucks. |

Amazon is hiring more people, so I guess that translates into more brick and mortar stores closing and potentially lower commercial property values.
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-am...-idUSKBN14W21G So we lose more crappy retail jobs and get some crappy warehouse jobs instead, until the robots replace them. I do feel sorry for the young uneducated people in this country. |

I am always reminded of the perennial joke in communist countries. "It's the workers' paradise. They pretend to pay us and we pretend to work." Donald Trump needs to figure out that the press is always unfair to the president. Having been elected by a minority of the voters, protests and demonstrations come with the territory. He needs to ignore the flack and get to work. If life gets better for most folks, the tune will change. If it gets worse and the Republicans screw with women and seniors, the opposition and protests will increase. It is not really fair that he is not being given a chance to show what he can do. It can be argued that his campaign generated significant and vocal opposition. Women didn't turn out and vote to protect their interests, but trying to get women to take responsibility for their actions is a losing battle. Any man who's been married can tell you that. I still marvel that more white women voted for Trump then for Hillary.
https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/10/o...what.html?_r=0 I guess its like that comment I heard repeatedly at work, a woman's worst enemy on the job is another woman. |
