How's your City , Fine or Sh*tty ?
" Hot damn summer in the City , you`re feeling quite depressed because you`re grabbing no titty "
But enough about me This thread concerns the city you survive in and if it lives up to your local Councils hype. Mine is currently Norwich , supposedly a fine City. At least that's what it says on all the signs leading in. But me i find it nearer foul than fine with a population who look like they'd sooner chew their own hand off than offer it in friendship A more mopey bunch of can`ts i have yet to see , and i used to live in London !. The Council here is bloody awful as well , although the County Council isn`t too bad and have shown some sense in recent times . Mainly when they hire me for photography assignments Although enough with the shameless self promotion , and onto a few snaps of ma city's most beautiful sights as seen with these my own eyes The Wooden Wonder - As in this post i walk by has been broken for weeks yet nobody has touched or repaired it , i wonder why Yes Norwich has actual banking facilities - Just no discernible language Plus a dedicated police force - Well dedicated in theory, just don`t expect them to do anything practical. Buses have finally come to Norwich - Although some still prefer to use the traditional method of piggy back for fear of entering those steel beasts ! All the top stores are available - Though this ones only available if you can afford to spend £50 on £25`s worth of food . We have our own Castle which looks very impressive - It`s only when you get closer and past all the spray can holding , knife welding hoodies that you realise it's not so much a castle as a place where every museum in the country stores it's crap . Norwich Playhouse - One of the few highlights Yes folks old wide hipped duck faced phony boobed even phonier personality Jordan is slithering into town to promote yet another book she hasn't written, no doubt leaving a trail of venereal disease behind her. Am debating whether to turn up myself and heckle the bag of bitter bones Could be a chance to maybe see her big brave cage fighter husband He's world famous you know For being a pussy Anyway there are a few sights of my City . What`s it like around your parts ? Oh and if you say damn itchy , get to a doctor fast you might have a dose of the Jordan's

Norwich
Where the women can pass for men , and the men are all related.
The City of elegance , culture and tetanus poisoning. Where local artists thrive. And even the surroundings show a sense of irony.

Just few days ago I checked Murmansk with Google Earth, I visited there over five years ago and I`m still convinced that It`s from the other world, especially at late October when there is just dirt and no colours.
Here`s few finds from GE`S Panoramio, thanks, credits and sympathy for the photographer :

I live in the fine city of Buffalo, NY. A wonderful city with friendly people, excellent cultural attractions, resturants that range from high scale fine dining to pub grub at very reasonable prices, two major league sports teams and we're 30 minutes from Niagara Falls and 90 minutes from Toronto.
However, we're saddled with excessive and competitive local governments that seem to attract the stupidest of our region, a depressed economy with little prospects of recovery and a dwindling and aging population. One of the proudest buildings in downtown Buffalo is crumbling and boarded up, the site of Memorial Auditorium is supposed to be the site of a Bass Pro Shop, but they've been stalling for 9 years and now have been given 14 days to shit or get off the pot, and there are parts of the city that are just abandoned. Despite all this, I love living here and I never want to move away. |

I live in the City of Lakes, Minneapolis. A beautiful town and one that I missed greatly when I lived elsewhere. It has the second highest percentage of stage theater seats per population to only New York. Correspondingly, it has the second highest percentage per population of "Cliffs" to any city besides San Francisco. The coldest metroplitan area in the States, including Anchorage Alaska, so the winters are long, dark and can be very dreary. That's where alcohol comes in. Oh sure we have our problems, New York Times once called us Murderapolis after a particularily rough year, but things are pretty good here. Lots of good museums, theaters, great music scene, beautiful clean city and one that I would encourage all my VEF brethern to visit. Just make sure you do it in the summer.

Here's a famous thing that was made in my old hometown - I wonder what it is?
Here's another famous thing we made earlier - it burned really well. Here it is after the Labourites redeveloped the centre - and did a much better job than the Luftwaffe "Fine or Shitty"? God knows! But I'm glad I'm not there now. |

Well, i don't know if i live in a city, a town, ... here we call it "dormitory town". Is not the best, but not the worst. We're only 15 km far of Barcelona, so we have all services, but as is a small city, is more quiet than the metrópolis. We have beach, at only 5 minutes of the center. I prefer the other side, the mountain not much high, but mountain at least, also at five mins.
Salut !

I come from a city that's famous/infamous for bombs, bullets, rioting, drinking, petrol bombs, nailbombs, coffee jar bombs, orange, green; building the world's biggest ship that was claimed to be unsinkable, but then sank on its maiden voyage. Giving the world the greatest ever soccer player, who became more famous for his off pitch antics than his soccer skills... a gold star to the first person who guesses the name of this great city.
