That hit the nail on the head. The Warriors are smiling at all of the right people, and saying all of the right things, and trying to avoid letting on what is going through their heads. But when you really focus on them, it's obvious. They are really, really pissed off, and this season is about revenge with a capital 'R'. They are going to try to blast the Cavs into Lake Erie, and if they could they would send our beloved commissioner and a big chunk of the media into the lake, too.

A thread "Golden State Warriors 2017 NBA Champions" was started. I broke down my thoughts on the team's off season challenges in this posting on that thread. I forgot to mention that Jerry West's contract is also expiring and Doc Rivers has been pushing big time to lure him away. For that matter, he can probably write his own ticket if he wants to return to the Lakers, too.

Bob Myers will really have to work for his salary this off season.

Phil Jackson is out as President of Basketball Operations for the New York Knickerbockers.

Yes, now we know why Phil didn't wind up in the Lakers front office.

What, having Jim Buss was not Enough? I will say the Lakers are really being a home town team, from the players to the coaches they seem to have gone for Southern California personnel.

Default Wht about LeBron and...

I have seen a lot of articles about LeBron going to the Lakers and some other teams. But what about teaming up with the Spurs? The first thing that came up when I did a search was one about him *not* being a fit, and that was from 3 years ago:

Why the Spurs shouldn't sign LeBron James

I'd like to see it, just to give the Bay Area a run for their money...

Everybody talks like the Warriors are a lock to repeat. But if they lose Iguodala, Livingstone, and Pachulia to free agency? Does anybody think Damian Jones is ready to play in the NBA? If they retain JaVale McGee will he be effective in a larger role? The Warriors will be bringing in at between 2 and 6 new players next year, how does that affect their chemistry? Can Steve Kerr keep coaching?

I don't see LeBron going to LA. Cleveland is his home and his wife and kids liked Miami. I am sure he would love to play for Popovich, but Kawhi plays the same position and is seven years younger. LeBron has shown no inclination to start banging around with power forwards. I also don't see him wanting any part of the Knicks. Dan Gilbert best not take him for granted or the King will wind up somewhere else in 2018.

By the way, I think Julius Randle is going to be at least a very good player, if not a star. The work ethic is there.

Default Finst day of free agency

Two hours before NBA free agency opened, the Indiana Pacers knocked over a domino that will impact the Lakers’ 2018 free agency plans.
The Pacers traded All-Star forward Paul George to the Oklahoma City Thunder, sending him away from their conference, in exchange for guard Victor Oladipo and forward Domantas Sabonis. George is on the final year of his contract after which he plans to become a free agent.
On June 17, George’s agent told the Pacers that he planned to depart in free agency in 2018 and that his preferred destination was to the Lakers. The Pacers, who drafted him 10th overall in 2010, began searching for a trade partner after that meeting.

There is sure to be more action this off season. If Brandon Ingram show signs of stardom this coming season (with Lonzo Ball setting him up for easy shots) Paul George will probably find his dreams of playing for the Lakers frustrated. Why pay max dollars to a NBA diva entering the decline phase of his career if you have an alternative?

On my mind: Austin Rivers is a well below average NBA player whose dad is elevating him to the starting line up and tasking him with running the team on the floor. What are the odds that Steve Ballmer fires Doc next year?
