In most of my history of being sexually active in North America, a good amount (I'd say about 75%-80%) of women shaved their pubic hair. However, in my most recent sexual hookups, I've realized that women are letting it grow, not out of control, but enough to be considered "hairy" by modern standards. My last 8 of 10 sexual partners had a very noticeable amount of pubic hair (they were aged 18-25). Is pubic hair coming back in vogue?

I was at a hot tub party in Orlando over Memorial Day weekend, and somewhere during the party we all decided to go naked. I noticed that, out of the 30+ girls that were there, most of them had landing strips, triangles, other shapes, or were natural. Only about 4 or 5 of them were completely shaved. These girls were in their early 20's. Is pubic hair coming back into fashion for women?

Not that I mind it, its just in my experience of being around naked women, most of them were completely shaved.

I don't know if it's time to celebrate the demise of the plucked chicken look, but one can be hopeful.

A hairy pussy is, after all, a natural pussy. When I was a kid, it seemed as though the whole point of a woman wearing a bikini or a pair of knickers was to cover up their bush, and that's exactly why it was so damned exciting to get a look at one.

The first time I got a good look at my first girlfriend's bush .. sheer heaven. She was wearing her school uniform and lying across my legs on her parents' settee. Her skirt was hitched up around her waist and I'd got my hand in her (remarkably tight) polyester knicker briefs to reveal a beautiful crop of silky, dark pubes. I remember that her knickers had a cartoon horse on the front, for some reason.

That first eyeful of pubes has probably informed my attitude to female foliage ever since. Shaved girls leave me cold. I'd much rather see a girl with her knickers on than sporting the 'last chicken in the shop' look.

I think, something like a generational gap will always exist. Children will want to distance themselves from their parents, their habits, their music, their fashion etc.
Now, many younger people around older people who shave their pubic hair, for example in gyms. They see people who could be their fathers or mothers with shaved or trimmed bushes, armpit hair, sometimes also with shaved chests and legs (the latter of which may be considered a standard at least for women, and the number of people calling for women not to shave their legs or their armpits is definitely a small minority). Seeing this makes them think of how to distance themselves from the "older people", and one way is of course not following the older guys' shaving mania.
Whereas for many "older" people shaving seems to be like a dogma, younger people use to be much more playful. They may shave or not, or shave sometimes, maybe during the summer months, but not in the winter etc.
I also think, that people between 30 and 50 had their sexual socialization at the time of the greatest AIDS scare. Thus, the idea came up that sex had to be clean, and therefore bodies had to be clean (obviously confusing "clean" with "healthy"). So the whole shaving thing started its triumphal procession. And of course the porn industry had some impact, the images produced by this business have for sure influenced many peoples' esthetical choices - knowingly or unknowingly. If this is still the case, then we may see a greater variety in the coming years, as even many mainstream porn productions feature unshaved or at least trimmed, but not totally shaved females. The same goes for males, who at least in my opinion have always looked a bit ridiculous when being totally hairless.
One funny thing: I've known several professional fashion models (you know, those skinny girls on front pages and catwalks, not glamour models), and not one of them was totally shaved, at least not all the time. Only those models were completely shaved who had to pose for lingerie etc. (and modelwise they are not really the crop of the cream, i. e. don't work for the big designers etc.).
