Sunderland manager David Moyes has resigned following the club's relegation from the Premier League.

The end of the Black Cats' 10-year stay in the top flight was confirmed when they lost to Bournemouth last month.

Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke says his shares "are not, and have never been, for sale".

The American's company released a statement on Monday following the recent £1bn bid by Alisher Usmanov to take full control of the Gunners.

Kroenke Sports and Entertainment added it was "a committed, long-term investor in Arsenal and will remain so".

Every season - bad run / sack managaer / great escape /
followed next season by return to bad run - de ja vu

This is a team with a squad on wages of 60-70mil a year

It looks like Sam Allardyce has possibly retired or is seriously considering it. He has resigned from Crystal Palace and said he had no ambitions to take another job. Of course it could also be him just needing a break and he will be back. However at 62 and already having a shot at the top job, albeit briefly, retirement surely will be an option.

Seems a bit strange after signing a contract for 2+ years

There is reported to have been a break clause in his Palace contract which could be initiated following six months at the helm, and Allardyce is said to have been due a bonus in the region of some £2million for helping retain the Eagles’ top-flight status.

I never buy the waffle about wanting to spend more time with the family
These guys are far too driven to walk away without a good reason
