I think everybody gets caught up in the battle of Left vs. Right when what is really important today is the battle between regular, sane minded people and stupid people.

I've spoken to people on the other side of the aisle, people who have different opinions than me. I don't agree with them but I can understand their point of view and how they came to the conclusions they did while still not really agreeing with them. That is the ideal Left and Right, that is healthy opposition.

What we have today is idiots on both sides screaming nonsense, distorting facts and then making decisions based on those distorted facts. Meanwhile the few sane people that are left either have their voices drowned out or choose to go along with the idiots simply because they believe the idiots are on their "side". Idiots are not on your side, no matter if they wave your party flag, they are not on your side. Idiocy will only lead to more idiocy.
