An angry middle aged white guy goes nuts threatening a cyclist for using the full lane in sharrows. The cyclist didn't have a helmet camera but he did turn on his cell phone camera after they were stopped.
http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2016/...ght-on-camera/ Off camera, based on the cyclist description, the driver violated: California Penal Code (CPC) 245: assault with a deadly weapon (intentionally driving his car at the cyclist and clipping his elbow) (misdemeanor) California Vehicle Code (CVC) 23103: reckless driving (driving with a willful disregard for the safety of persons or property) (misdemeanor) CVC 21760: passing a bicyclist closer than 3 feet. (infraction and moving violation - points on license) CVC 27001: Using the horn for a purpose other than safe operation. (infraction - not a moving violation - no points on license) On camera, he violated CPC 422 making criminal threats (misdemeanor) He's apologizing now but I think that's only because the video went viral and he's on the news. Here's the uncensored original version (language NSFW): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuYO8Tsmhv8 It's amazing how psycho some of these people get. Meanwhile, in the velodrome...
The world thinks 'oh no, the Brits are at it again...' Team sprint finally find the right third man to replace Chris Hoy and take the gold. Women's team pursuit break the world record in qualifying. Mens team pursuit qualify fastest by over 3 seconds. It's on again! |

The Brits are all on (very well paid) welfare or lottery funding as we call it. Unlike road cyclists who have to earn a living in the real world. If the sport's success can't pay for itself why should it be funded? How about spending a bit more money on cycle paths instead or improving the roads for cycling instead if you really want more people to cycle. We had a cycle path built near me recently but it has a terrible surface apparently due to the lack of lottery funding cash. A Dutch friend of mine couldn't believe how bad it is for cyclists in the UK. |

Our highway engineers are generally engaged in: 1. more interested in dreaming up new schemes than maintaining what we have - if I use the term 'potholes' you'll know what I mean 2. putting up ludicrous, unecessary amounts of signage. 3. Shoving roads around new developments Roads, like drainage, suffer from hideosuly inept management. None of this is connected with track cyclists, who produce bloody marvels and get the great unwashed interested in cycling. |

Here the priority is funding an elite doing a sport that is as far from the realities of cycling in the UK as you can get. The way you promote cycling is to make is safe and convenient as in Holland where it's as natural as walking. We watch cycling the Dutch actually do it. Cycling in the UK is a minority sport. In Holland it's just part of everyone's normal day-to-day life in a civilised country. Last edited by vinceprince; August 12th, 2016 at 04:44 PM.. |

Olympic goldmedal in the women mountainbikerace by 22 year old rookie Jenny Rissveds, see my avatar and pic below, and silver by Emma Johansson in the women's road race.
You can wonder what will happen if we finally decide to build our first velodrome/indoor court. Hopefully this will have an impact on the cyclingsport in my country, which even though everybody, including myself cycle almost every day,is a small sport. We´ve had some great cyclists, but I still can´t see it being a major sport here though, but if we take medals in the olympics now and then,it´s ok. |

Yesterdays Vuelta stage to Lagos de Covadunga was the TDF stage that everyone was hoping for but never happened and much more exciting than anything that happened in the TDF. Great ride from Nairo and an even more incredible one from Froome.
Watch the final climb if you haven't already. As I said there's a lot more to bike racing than the overhyped TDF https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbj6WKWIcYc |
