I'm a big fan of this movie and the original novel. I've been waiting for the promised re-make for some years, but don't know if it's still on the cards, or if this film should actually be re-made!

I have a standard DVD of the film and a slightly better quality video someone else found on the Internet. But there is a newish Blue Ray on Amazon and I have been tempted to get it. Has anyone seen this and is it in HD quality? I also seem to remember that some production company was making a series of technical improvements to the film with emphasis on the special effects. Not sure if this is part of the Blue Ray release as well?

Thumbs down

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4881806/

It was okay but not great.

Some parts of it felt recycled.

A couple of the supporting characters were very poorly written and very annoying.

The trailers themselves were also a bit misleading.

Personally, I think they should had stopped after the 2nd film, the last time a Jurassic Park franchise film was actually directed by Steven Spielberg.

But you know Hollywood: as long as people will pay to see it, they will keep cranking them out no matter how banale and absurd and repetitive each new entry becomes.

So of course there will be a sequel.

It's already has a release date scheduled: June 11th, 2021.

Both Pratt and Howard will reprise their roles.

Plus I kept waiting for Hot Redhead Bryce Dallas Howard, Opie Richie Cunningham's daughter, to show some naked boobies.

BUT NOPE!

This is all we got!! A tease!!

The lack of any naked boobies in this movie is very disturbing!

How do they even dare to call this a Summer Popcorn flick?

I can't recommend this!!

2.5/5

One of my favourite films and being an avid fan of Dennis Wheatley probably helps. I have been considering buying the Blue Ray, although have not seen the HD version, most of the reviews have been in agreement it is a job done really well, the downside apparently is the tampering with special effects and no original version included on the Blue ray, I held back from purchasing.

As most reviews of the film are of the same ilk I have left a link for one below if you wish to read.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

It's Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) vs a volcano as they attempt to rescue the remaining dinosurs from the aforementioned volcano on Isla Nublar. With the backing of John Hammond's former partner in developing the technology to clone dinosaurs the two set out on their mission but of course something sinister lays's beneath

Pratt and Howard have great chemistry together, and apart they are charming.
Justice Smith as Franklin Webb:A former IT technician for Jurassic World is basically around for comic relief and i did laugh a couple of times at his sonic screams.
The SFX and visuals are great. There are some touching moments woven into this adventure.
There is an interesting and unpredictable twist in the plot.
I didnt have a problem with a portion of the plot with rich people attempting to buy the dinosaurs to use for sport or biological weapons.

Even with all of the thrills and good things the film has going for it the other half has that been there done that feel to it.With cookie cutter greedy and sinister characters, coupled with those that make dumb decisions with predictable results.
I definitely had to suspend disbelief over a dozen times.

I know some people hated the ending, but i loved it and would be perfectly fine with the Jurassic films ending here ...but i know that's not going to happen.

Scale of 1-10 a 7

I've not seen this for some time so it's time to revisit

The Woman in Black (2012)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1596365/

I've seen the original TV movie, read the original story and watched the play in the Theatre.

I love the original 1989 TV movie but this film although it does rely heavily on effects does score points for the background story set up at Crythin Gifford and the tragic story of Jennet Humfrye.
Single parent and financially struggling Solicitor's clerk Arthur (Daniel Radcliffe) is sent to Crythin Gifford to sort out the estate of Alice Drablow at Eel Marsh House soon after arriving he gets the "we don't like strangers here" treatment as he is shown to the only available room in the local pub, the attic were three children died several years ago.

A pretty good ghost story all in all, well worth watching
The only reservations I had were the recovery of the child's body from the marshes and the final almost happy ending

Midnight In Paris. A romantic fantasy I guess you'd call it, about a man who finds his Golden Age Paris and meets his literary heroes. A wifey choice, but I really enjoyed it. The only thing that grated a little was Owen Wilson in the lead. I honestly don't know how that guy became a star.

No one in the history of swimwear and bikini has done more to influence the sale of swimwear and especially of the bikini than Ursula Andress.

Andress' scene showing her emerging from the ocean wearing a white bikini made the sales of bikinis back then go from sluggish to skyrocket.

That scene is also listed on many top 100 sexiest scenes in movie history.

The white bikini Andress wore was especially made for her and only one was made.

It sold in 2001 at an auction for $61,500.

In 2006, to celebrate the 60th birthday of the bikini, Ursula Andress was voted The Ultimate Bikini Goddess.

Her Bond girl character, Honey Ryder, was also voted as the best Bond girl of all time in several surveys of the top 10 best Bond girls of all time.

The Man From Earth. I sure everyone knows it. The story of a 14000 year old man who reveals his secret to a small group of friends before he leaves for parts unknown and their reaction to his story. No special effects. The entire 87 minutes runtime is a composed of people talking. Definitely not for those who think Pacific Rim is great movie making.
Going to watch the sequel The Man From Earth Holocene tomorrow night.
