Obviously there are going to be a lot of female staff not impressed by the gender disparity.

What really shocks me is that they/we are paying £500k a year for Alan Shearer to state the bleeding obvious aprrox 30 weeks a year on MOTD

Male stars defend their salaries as LOW compared to what they could be getting

I'd like to know where they would all be getting these higher salaries

The BBC should call their bluff renegotiate their contracts at 50% of their current rate and see how many leave,hopefully they all will

Actually some should about 80% less

I'll try not to let my heart bleed for a woman who earns £150,000 and thinks it's unfair. Though I think Martine Croxall should be paid more for being so sexy.

Sky, Amazon, Netflix, Virgin, other TV companies abroad etc.

Like every job, it is a market - and broadcasting/journalism is a global one, just like football.

I hope not.

I find this whole thing rather distasteful. I'm sure there are those here who would rail against the "politics of envy" and that is close to what is happening here. Those same people would probably also go on about the right to privacy (for themselves at least it seems).

Not that I mind that - envy is a prime driver of enterprise in a capitalist society and no one here seems to be an out-and-out communist (bar one!). So we'll either have to live with it or invite Mr Putin to replace Mrs May.
