Two things I see
1) If Hamas stop firing rockets into Israel, Israel will have nothing to retaliate against. 2) If Hamas didn't dig tunnels into Israel, Israel would not have to go and blow them up. Simple I know, and perhaps one sided, but someone has to start. Finally I saw last night that this is all our fault. The British Empire that is, (that was actually) We apparently drew the maps dividing the region up into what it is now.

I could not give a damn about the centuries lasting Arab / Jewish problems, conflicts and squabbles and tit for tat bullshit. I could not care less simply because if any problem takes this long too resolve and there is an absolute peace afterwards, in reality there never will be. Didn't Anwar Sadat get assassinated by his own for making peace with Israel ? Wasn't Yitzhak Rabin assassinated by his own kind for attempting too make some kind of peace agreement with the PLO ? That's what each would do too their own kind that the hatred is so entrenched in their own cultures. If they'll kill their own kind then there is no saying into how low each will stoop too make sure the other never exists. It will be bred into their culture today tomorrow and will basically never stop. They're as bad as each other in my book. That said, I know there are decent members of each others communities who know it's all senseless, I wish them luck, but as long as the hatred is bred into them there it will never be settled.

hamas throw rockets at israel, israel gets pissed off , israel invades, the palestinions get the kicking. Is it not the definition of madness to support an organisation that repeatadely gets you a kicking but keeps telling you that next time it will be different? I dont support israel unconditionally, but, until the people realise peace lies with being nice to israel and not just hoping hamas will build a better rocket, the palestinions will continue to suffer. |

Into the cauldron I go....
Where do you start? I do wonder how long the Israeli Authorities can maintain any credibility that the current destruction of UN Refugee Buildings, Hospitals, Power Plants etc, & the huge civilian casualities are part of a proportionate response of the dismantling of Hamas. I fear the ordinary Palestinians civilians bombed out of their homes, with their families killed , will just become ever more hostile to the Israelis. Most would accept Israel’s right to defend itself, but I cant see this situation ever being resolved until the Palestinians also have their own country without the continued illegal occupation (according to the UN) of the West Bank, and the continuing construction of Israeli settlements there. I appreciate there is a significant portion of the moderate Israeli public opposed to the occupation, as indeed are many Jewish communities in the rest of the world, who are also opposed to what is happening. Rewind back to Palestine in 1946, when the militant (terrorist) Zionist group Irgun bombed the British army HQ, at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, killing over 90 people. Sadly, criticism of the Israeli administration is often viewed as anti-Semitic, & results in the appalling persecution of Jewish communities, outside Israel, which we are seeing now, & which is plainly wrong. Its perhaps a simplistic view, but I never hold with religious fundamentalists of any sort, particularly those that believe they have a god given & exclusive right to own & occupy land. Its one planet, none of us `own` it, and `extremist religious beliefs` & bigotry seems to account for most of humanity`s greatest troubles. have a nice day? |

I remember a thread did start, but I only briefly scanned through it. I'm not really sure of it's content. I really didn't know that it was removed, I thought it may have just wasted away. I also don't feel the need of asking why. Judging by other threads I trust the mods and feel that any explanation is not needed. I like threads of "General Discussion and News". Here is where I can gain insight from others and learn. I can't get that from just watching news. I had also learned on communicating with others. How to be respectful to others who have different points of view. (At least I try do these things.) I feel that I have learned a lot over the years from these discussions. |

So much gets thrown in and the simplicities just get lost. "Extremist religious beliefs` & bigotry seems to account for most of humanity`s greatest troubles" This has been the cause of so many wars, but throughout the history of man kind I'm glad to see it is more of a decline. I believe that modern technology has helped the teaching of other countries. That democracy in so many countries have allow us the freedom to learn of other countries. Such as freedom of the press. The overall press is not censored by some governments, so we are able to form our "own" beliefs such as you and I. War has always been with us since the dawn of time. I don't think that it will ever go away, but I do believe things have gotten a bit better. Hopefully "World Wars" may just be a past in our history. The term "The right to be there" annoys me as well. But being simplistic, we all have the right to live "somewhere" and in my viewpoint, they are already there. |

It's the only way,Until the Palestinians renounce violence the brutal cycle will just continue indefinitely.Hamas with their fanatical devotion to Their futile Holy war are the worst problem the people of Gaza and the west bank have.

What is my place? I never said it was fine with the Arabs I just said I thought they were more wrong than Israel. As some one else posted as long as Hamas and any other group keep ignoring cease fires, rocketing indiscriminately into Israeli territory, digging tunnels under the border, hiding among civilians it will NEVER stop. I do believe that Israel would be fine if hostilities ceased. Who knows maybe both sides would actually find an agreeable solution.

Not sure if this is what may have closed the other thread. But I sure wouldn't want anything to close mine.
Maybe "restructuring" on how we are posting in order to get our points across? I'm not too clear on the voice from the Arab side. Is that meaning that the Palestinians are not being heard through the press? If so, I hear a lot of it in the press that I see. (I think the Term Arab maybe too general and should be kept towards nationalities.) Last edited by BinLadenSucks; July 31st, 2014 at 08:01 PM.. Reason: gramar |
