Captain Kirk's 14 most memorable facial expressions

By Lisa Granshaw

April 8, 2017

There's no doubt that sometimes Star Trek can be gloriously over the top. The Original Series in particular had some of the most amazing of these moments and many of my favorites came from William Shatner's portrayal of Captain Kirk ... specifically, his amazing range of facial expressions.

When I say the faces of Kirk are one of the things I enjoy about The Original Series era, I mean that genuinely. Sure, these moments made me smile and even laugh sometimes, and a lot has been said about Kirk's over-expressive nature, but I'm not here to mock. I really just want to highlight how magnificent Kirk's numerous faces are!
Here's how I'd rank Kirk's most unforgettable facial expressions.

Star Trek Gambling coming to Atlantic City

pressofatlanticcity.com
Steve Hughes
Apr. 11, 2017

Later this year Atlantic City gamblers will be able to boldly go where no gamer has gone before.

New York-headquartered GameCo has entered into a license agreement with CBS Consumer Products to produce skill-based gambling video games based on the Star Trek franchise.

Set to debut in the fall, GameCo’s first game under the license agreement, “Star Trek Deep Space Nine Adventure.”

The first game will let players take the helm of the U.S.S. Defiant and fight others in ship-to-ship combat.

The gambling platform allows a player’s skill in video games to determine the payout and winnings, while maintaining the same casino economics as slot machines.

The company released the first video game-based gambling machines last year at Caesars’ three Atlantic City properties and at Tropicana Atlantic City.

The Star Trek game will feature 3D models of the spacecraft aimed to attract fans of both Star Trek and the space combat genre. Future games will be based on other Star Trek series including the Original Series, The Next Generation, Voyager and Enterprise.

GameCo, which is privately owned, says it will release at least 10 more titles in 2017, including games based on Paramount’s “Mission Impossible,” “Paranormal” and “Ferris Bueller,” as well as “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.”

The industry has been trying to attract younger gamblers by offering them something outside the scope of traditional slot machines.

Lost Star Trek episode revealed on Saturday Night Live

The latest installment of Saturday Night Live unearthed a gem of cinematic history in their broadcast of an unaired episode of the original Star Trekseries.

Though Chris Pine hosted the show in promotion of the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, he stepped back into his role as Star Trek’s Captain James Tiberius Kirk, complete with a distinct William Shatner flavor.

Introduced by Keenan Thompson’s impersonation of Neil deGrasse Tyson (complete with bad science jokes), the episode brought the original Star Trek crew back to the bridge of the USS Enterprise.

The Enterprise is in a dogfight and needs to return fire with their photon cannons, but they’re suffering a malfunction in the plasma exhaust system. Spock and Scotty cannot fix the problem, so the Vulcan calls in his brother Spocko to help out.

The skit positions the episode as if it took place during the ratings dive of the final season and that producers were trying anything to see if it would help bolster their numbers. So they invited one-hit wonder Sal “Pizza Beach” Delabate to play a new character with the hope they could attract a “far out audience.”

I think this image is from the episode The Shizoid Man. The tall and beautiful Suzie Plakson also appears as Lt. Worf's ex-girlfriend K'Ehleyr.
