Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes were one of the early purveyors of the Gamble/Huff Philadelphia Sound that became so popular in the early and mid '70's. Teddy Pendergrass was their lead singer and they really had some great songs. They also has Sharon Paige sing with Teddy on a couple of solid gold soul 70's hits.
Check out Sharon Paige on these two songs below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T652bE3YzEU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vAv28I-oJc Since I seem to be stuck in the 70's. How about Donna Summer? I'm not a huge fan of the disco queen but one song always made me appreciate the lovely Ms. Summers. Her moaning..er I mean singing in her early hit "Love to Love You Baby" always managed to get my attention. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R9hwGOObqs

I'm feeling a little nostalgic for my youth today and Dusty Springfield and this song just sums up a whole era for me:-

K D Lang
Well, not that it was my intention when starting this thread a few weeks back, but I think I've exposed a lot of members soft sides
But nevertheless, great replies so far, good job by all Anyway, I didn't want too but K D Lang was being played in the car today, I always knew her voice was exceptional, just didn't realize how good until this afternoon

Another slice of nostalgia, Melanie Safca seemed to dominate my college years (yeah that was my hippy phase).

I just remember one more: Antonella Ruggiero.
She was the great singer of italian group Matia Bazar. Is simply spectacular. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d36rE-Urig0 I recommend you hear the change of tone that gives around minute 5 '10 " in this song "Ti sento" And my favourite... "Vacanze romani" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ensz359KLuo She reminds me another great: Kate Bush... (i see it for another post) Enjoy ... and Salut !
