For me it's worse when a poster is doing that in a self-referential manner to his or her own post. In the "old days," (and I go back to the pre-Internet days of electronic bulletin boards) that was done in response to another person's witticism or anecdote.

I help ruin (I mean run

) the book department and I am really pissed off at customers who don't put the books back where they found them.

Put the books back on the shelf people - not on top of other books, not halfway across the shop - back on the shelf. It's not difficult, is it?
