Lets not forget before Villa went into their current long losing slump they polaxed a few teams so its not like they havent got the ability to win. Benteke after the 3-1 wiping of Liverpool was the find of the season and then they went into their slump after the Chelsea 8-0 mauling http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2...premier-league Looking at the bottom half of the EPL i'll be surprised if West Ham are relegated so many teams who have no consistency and even less bite. As Southampton showed recently nobody is unbeatable if the higher fancied team dont play to their high standards - Joe Hart & Gareth Barrys give away goals were lamentable from a defending champion looking to stay in the race. Even West Brom on a downward spiral, out shot 16-4 by Liverpool walked away with a 2-0 away win Unpredictable and very tight league and nothing counts more than points in the bank and form on the day Last edited by buttsie; February 12th, 2013 at 07:01 AM.. To Truegoy.
You will still be in the pub but I'm afraid your CL season is over. The team played very well but the chances were there and there were no takers. Just shows the gulf between the SPL and Italia. You have still got the league in the bag and the cup if Hampden disna feart ye. |

Oh well, it was great while it lasted, but it's all over now - Just like all the best romances.
No complaints from me, tamsmith - as you say, we had the chances. I truly cannot recall a game at this level where I have seen my Troops In Hoops make so much of the running - only to end up with Hee Haw. We played very well for much more than an hour, and made plenty enough chances to win the game. However, Ambrose - who is normally very important for us - made 3 defensive howlers, and Juve took him to school. The fact that he had gotten off the plane from Johannesburg this very morning - with his CAF winners medal round his neck - cannot be discounted. I was surprised he was picked. I was very happy that Victor Wanyama was picked, but he must have been staying up late reading his own press, as he had a game which can best be described as "Mixed". I thought that Commons, Brown, and Forrest were excellent, but that wasn't enough. Right, that's the Mea Culpa, now the complaints... Juve are a good football team, but they'd make a cracking basketball team - as handball followed handball. They are, without a shadow of a doubt the most cynical outfit I have ever seen - wrestling, tripping, elbowing, feigning injury, and general time-wasting are all specialities in the Juve kitchen. This is all the more galling given their weight of pass and speed of thought - and that's before I even get to Pirlo. Saw him here for Milan, and even in his mid thirties he is outstanding - never ruffled once. And then there was the ref...A Damn Disgrace, as he allowed Juventus to kick, elbow, and practice their brand of all-in-wrestling inside the box, all in his clear line of vision - from start to finish. Young James Forrest was tripped twice inside the box, once just outside, and as he tried to head a dropping ball he was smashed to the ground with an elbow to the temple - acknowledged by the defender - all in the ref's line of site. Broon was consistently man-handled to the ground at set-pieces and I could go on until the final whistle at Wembley. Essentially, the referee is either a Cheat - or a Profound Incompetent. Be that as it may, we shot ourselves - repeatedly - in our luridly coloured nikes. Maybe we used up all our luck against Barcelona. Or maybe the ref's a Barca fan... ...Right, I've got a day off tomorrow/today, enough red wine and a full water-pipe, and I'm off to post some porn. I don't like football anyway. (I don't hate football as much as Sam Allerdyce hates football though, and I'll be back when Saturday comes) Hail hail.

Watched the Celtic game and for all the Juve antics, Celtic shot themselves in the foot, the free header in the second half, just about summed up the night for them. Playing ambrose was a calculated gamble by Lennon, that cost them dear.
As for Allardyce not likeing footie, he just see's it as a job and sets up not to lose, rather than win., Villa away being just one of many sad examples, I have this horrid feeling our last game of the season at home to reading, will decide who stays and who goes. Despite a real domination by Madrid, only a draw 1 1 and all chances left for United. But let's remember Porto with Mou a few years ago ...Good result for Dortmund 1 1 in Russia.Tonight Lyon to White hart lane with Lloris and after 3 bad results in ligue 1 will try to bring back something.but,I am scared Tottenham will eat them anyway (they sold Bastos Chris Lloris Sissoko and Kalstrom...hard times)

WOW
Gareth Bale, what's all that about then ? And strangely enough, he didn't even score the best goal in the game. I'd only just popped a rib laughing at Fernando Torres, too.
