before the 500s started to be published the website would alternate on a monthly basis the number os new sets released.
it would release 14 sets ('a' to 'm' + 'x') one month and then 17 sets ('a' to 'p' + 'x') the next month and this pattern was repeated. so taken over a 2 month period since the start of the 500s the release of the classic sets has decreased by 7.
it should be noted though that the peak of the releases was reached over a gradual period of a number of years from when the site first started.
