Thanks, Ruderberry, for your nod to my post. I loved your comment about Patti Farinelli—that her breasts are so big “she almost looked helpless.” Patti does look overwhelmed in the pictures in which she let her breasts slump. How could she not pitch forward?



Patti’s chest, as we can see from the photos below, was small. She is a very petite person. Her 36” measurement was all about her breasts.



Sadly, Patti’s breasts were so large in proportion to her body that she was indeed helpless. As her fans know, her breasts caused her such back pain that she had to have reduction surgery. She was every bit as beautiful afterwards, as she showed in her photos at Glamourcon. But I’m sorry she had to live with such pain. Being spectacularly beautiful had a wonderful upside for Patti, as she said in many interviews; but it had its downside too.

Thanks for another informative post, cqnew! The second-last shot, of Patti's back view, illustrates how slender and petite she was. So those massive breasts must have put considerable strain on her little frame, resulting in the back pain you mention and the "helpless" look referred to previously.

In fact, the late and rapid development of her bust might well have been a shock to her whole system. She told Playboy that, up to the age of 16-17, she had no breasts to speak of, earning her the nickname "Flatty Patti" from unkind schoolmates. Four years later she's a Playmate displaying a massive pair of bazookas....

I read somewhere she wasn't thrilled about some aspects of the centerfold shoot.
1) It was set in a library, but she was an outdoor kind of girl.
2) There was too much concentration on her breasts.
3) She had to wear her hair up, which wasn't her preferred style.

BTW, when did she undergo breast reduction surgery? I think she also had facial rejuvenation work done.

So the breasts of strong women may appear to be smaller or larger depending on their pose. And compared to women with dense breasts, women with softer, suppler breasts can drop their breasts farther when they bend over. That's why fashion designers ask voluptuous women to relax and to measure themselves both standing and bending over, so the larger measurement can be used.

It’s possible, of course, that PB simply published the measurements that PMs gave them, but if not, PMs were probably standing when PB measured them. I imagine PMs probably raised themselves at that moment to their full heights, tensed themselves, threw their shoulders back, took deep breaths and held them to expand their chests, and tightened their abs, so they would appear as curvaceous as possible to a tape measure. But that method would have disadvantaged certain PMs, especially petite PMs who were already disadvantaged in the measurement game because their chests were smaller, even though their breasts were not.

Karen Price is a wonderful case in point. She is petite, but perhaps the strongest, most athletic PM of all time, so she can project her breasts quite nicely when she arches her back and flexes her chest.
